CRWDSRCNG: Help me choose a NEW Smartphone
Hey guys!
It's me again and this time, as the title suggests, I am in the market for a Midrange Smart Phone and I need your help.
Way back, I have had my LG V10 undergo their infamous bootloop issue that totally bricked it. And ever since then, I have been using the iphone 5 that my brother gave me.
The reason why it took me this long to think about purchasing a new phone is because, I tried to deal with the 4" phone that the Iphone 5 is. I wanted to see if I would be able to do everything I can in a small phone like back in the day. LOL guess that did not go through as expected.
Why Midrange? Why not a Flagship? As I mentioned on the Rant I had on the LGV10 after it's demise, I don't think it is no longer necessary to contend with a Flagship when my needs are pretty much settled in with a Midranger.
So what exactly am I looking for? These are the objectives:
- Size: Screen should be 5.5 to 5.7 only. I found that anything less than this feels small. Trust me, ever since I have been thinking about getting a new one, I have held iphone 6's, LG G5's and they just feel small.
- Performance: Should be able to play Hearthstone buttery smooth? I know I know.. I am looking for a Midranger, I can't expect much. But I think the Midranger specs nowadays are very much capable. I'd like to do other gaming as well but Hearthstone should serve as my benchmark as it is pretty much the game I play on mobile.
Battery Life. Should be able to get me through the working hours with Hearthstone, Spotify, Light Browsing? Or maybe a fast charging ability to compensate if for the lack of battery life.
Camera: Decent Camera to show off stuff on Steemit :) I am not a selfiewhore nor do I take a picture of every dish I order at a resto. So yea, pretty much decent for steemit purposes. All for you guys!
- Price: Last and the most important. Reason why I am taking a MidRange over the flagship is because I know there are midrangers that can suit my needs and where Flagships are more of bells and whistles I don't really care about in practical uses.
I would also like to note that I am keen on getting a unit that is accessible here in the Philippines rather than having to Import a Unit overseas.
So what do I have in mind so far:
NOTE: I have not owned any of these brands before. Nor have I thoroughly tested them out already. Everything listed here is based on the reviews I check out. I may have held them once or twice. LOL
Huawei GR5 2017 or the Honor 6X
The first one on the list is Huawei GR5 2017 or the Honor 6X costing about PHP12,000 or around 240USD it is a 5.5 incher with dual rear camera. The processor already packs quite a punch for a midrange as it scores 57k on the Antutu Benchmarks, TBH, a big upgrade to the LGV10 that I had once. Sporting 3340mAh battery, I think this should be able to last me the day.

Oneplus 3T
The next one is the Oneplus 3T. The Flagship killing brand at $349USD sporting flagship processor at the midrange price. Pretty much the same battery and screen the GR5 is but the processor is just crazy with the QC Snapdragon 821 averaging Antutu Benchmarks at 165,000. Unfortunately the Oneplus does not like to expand your storage that much as they excluded the support for MicroSD cards all the way.

Note: I could actually include the Oneplus 3 on the list however, as it is but 20$ lower with the processory being the also infamous QCSD820, I'd say, I will be settling for the OP3T this time around.
Asus Zenfone 3 ZE552KL
The Zenfone 3 is pretty much the midrange it really is. From Processor to Battery to Price Range. With an Antutu Score averaging 63,000, it is ever slightly higher than that of the GR5 but so is the price. It sports a single rear lens and takes decent photos. What made me decide to include it here (Incoming Subjective Opinion) is its looks. Yes I added it here because I happen to pass by a review unit of it and was amazed on how it looks alone.

Oneplus 5
Last but actually the beast is the Oneplus 5. I know you are surprised for having me include this in the list. Definitely this can almost become construed as a Flagship device. The price though is quite higher than the bunch over here starting at $480USD with the 64GB/6GB variant. But as the newcomer from Oneplus the specs are pretty much the top of the line for this price point. I wanted to include this on the list as I really fell in love with it, but definitely this is slightly higher on top of the price point I am wanting to buy this new phone at.

So the price range here is very random at above $250 to maybe around $450 or maybe even $480 (Oneplus5). These are just a handful of selections I wanted to point out but I know there are other phones out there that are better so I want to here that from YOU. Yes YOU!
If you have any suggestions on which phone I should be looking at, please leave a comment below as I am in dire need of your help.
NOTE: List is not limited to the phones above. If there are flagship that will drop down into midrange price points, why not?! Personally I am eyeing the Oneplus 3T but I know that there would be pretty awesome suggestions out there from you guys.
If you also have personal experiences with these phones particularly with Hearthstone, please do drop the comments below as that would be more input for me in selecting phones.
Any additional profit this post would make would fund my quest for the new phone.
Please do resteem/share so that we could grab more inputs. Upvote and leave a comment below for suggestions and any other comments.
Follow me as I will be creating my own review for the phone I will be buying rather than a phone that was sent to me for a review.
I hope you guys enjoyed. Thanks for always having me and till next time!
Google pixel ..
How I wish I could include that in the list. But since it is still running >600$ right now, it is a bit too much for me :)
Pixel 2 coming up in a few though right?
I'm liking the OnePlus 5 myself which may replace my flawed Nexus 6P. I'm actually going to give a Jelly Phone Pro a try - it's a tiny 2.5" Android 7 phone. Lots of sensors - dual SIM and SD card but yes, tiny screen. However, I think it may help me stop using my phone as much, just for essentials. If that doesn't work I'll get the OnePlus 5 - or maybe, the budget Pixel phone that is supposed to be being made by Motorola and coming out in October.
TBH if I just have cash right now. That cash would go to the Oneplus 5 right away. Then again not yet, as there are still plenty of inputs in store here. There might be a worthy alternative to my needs rather than just what I want.
I did see some review comments about the 1+5 display betting mounted upside down which can lead to weird effects when scrolling. However some people have also said they don't really notice it. It does make me want to check one out in real life first before actually purchasing (although I think there is a no questions return policy for a limited time anyway).
See the jelly display problem listed here: https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/oneplus-5-problems/
I believe that is the only flaw 1+5 has. Unfortunately, I have not held any review unit/ nor test unit in our local stores to check.
I love the Asus Zenfone 3 ZE552KL phone in the smartphone specs ter is superior to the others @shote.said
What I really like about the ZF3 is it's design and it's reputation. ZF has been great ever since it launched it's entry level ZF5 that was deemed bang for the buck at that time.
Hopefully you get the best smart phone with a cheap price
Thanks a lot man! I have been without a decent phone for 2 months already. Seems like the support for ZF is starting to rally up :)
Thanks again, please follow me

Hi well for me I would choose the ASUS Zenfone, I myself use this phone it's big and comfy to type or even writing text messages. Just a suggestion though but it works for me. :)
I'm glad to see a fellow kababayan in the club! Thanks for the input @purepinay. It seems like the ZF is seeing support this time around. I will definitely look this up even further. Thank you so much for having me.
you're welcome. following you now
