Wow! Unique rock, I showed the picture to Hubby, a geologist. He said, base on the picture it is caused by weathering, a geologic process wherein the component chemicals of the rock reacts and interact with the chemicals of the environment surrounding it. At this stage we cannot identify the rock because we must see it's interior. The rock must be slice or crack open.
