5 Minute Freewrite: Literally
Find the prompt here.
Apparently, as far back as Mark Twain, which is about as far back as you can go, the word "literally" has been used to mean the opposite of it. So those grammar die-hards are W-R-O-N-G when they correct you for using the word "literally" to emphasize something. How interesting. How boring. How pointless. Lest you think what I write in a freewrite is me, me, me, you should know it's not. Freewrite Stina is not Stina but perhaps Anits or Mystina or Christina or cardboard figurine. That's the beauty of a freewrite. Brain associations. Word associations. Everything matters, nothing matters, everything has impact, nothing matters. The feelings I feel at this moment will never be felt again, except by the ant that lives in the crack in the wall by the shower, the ant that lives on dead skin cells and water droplets, the ant that lost its trail home. Is it still an ant if it lives alone? The ant itself does not have any awareness of its plight and simply focuses on survival.
I tried three days on sporadic steroid-induced sleep deprivation and found myself in a total fog. I marvel that your brain is coming up with all these beautiful nuggets on your many-months of sleeplessness. I need more of them. (Also, hi, it’s Heidi.)
You're so sweet! Glad to see you on here. :)
Yay! Try a freewrite yourself! YAYYYY!
SO GOOD. Them ant thoughts!? SO GOOD.
Love its free form path. Yes, ants livs to survive only. We had a bunch of winged ones Saturday, got traps and poof, all gone. That never has happened before!
Thank you! Eek, that's crazy! We get winged termites in our place occasionally. Blech.
The word associations alone have me reading and re-reading this over and over! Great freewrite!
