RE: Desi Foods in Karachi To Try

in #food8 years ago

You are entitled to not like the post, but to me it honestly doesn't look that bad. Is it a lost work of Shakespeare? No, obviously not. But it isn't terrible either. There are blog posts from some of our well known 'star' bloggers (and I don't mean introduction posts either) with little to no more substance than this that have regularly earned as much or more.

If you have evidence of abuse, that is one thing (and I did see a comment below about a photo possibly used without permission).

I really don't like the idea of users being bullied off the platform because their idea of participation happens to be different from someone else's idea. We need to be more inclusive, not trying to create some kind of barrier to entry for people who are just okay at blogging, and not superstars or famous (nor wanting to be famous).

I think it is legitimate to question or flag abuse, and it is legitimate to question or flag based on a judgement of rewards being outsize due to swarming or abusive voting on low- or limited-quality content, but I don't think it is legitimate to harass or verbally abuse someone based on these judgements alone without any actual evidence of abuse. To me it doesn't rise to that level yet, it is just an average mediocre post (though if it were earning $3-5K or more, I would certainly downvote it).

I really believe the better way to handle these situations is to attract more high quality content to the platform and then this arguably mediocre stuff will get pushed aside. Voting power is limited so people can't vote for everything. At the same time, rewards will be paid out every single day, so if there aren't any or many obviously great posts on that particular day, mediocre posts will get the money.

you have evidence in his previous post. i google reversed his photos and they are not free copyrights. He admitted to make mistake and he never took off the photos.

Damn , my posts seem to be under "mediocre" then . I need to learn from unvarified "super stars " I guess . I don't get it even though I start understanding how it all really works here . You gave me deep smooth insight .

@mammasitta I'm not familiar with your posts and did not intend to comment on them. Clearly there is a degree of luck element to which posts and whose posters happen to be noticed. My main point is that I don't find this post to be of obviously poor quality, nor do I think it is all that great. I didn't vote on it, but I can see where others find value in it. That is just a difference of opinion.

That's ok ! I am not familiar with many members but at least I take my time daily to find unique posts and enjoy every minute to learn more . In this case I really wish I would see who posts about Pakistan , a country I adore . Asking for a varification is fair .

Will reply asap when I finish it. This is a fair amount to digest and you have some valid points I will touch on ASAP.

Is it a lost work of Shakespeare? lol, Smooth you certainly have a fun way of spinning your words and I appreciate it. No, It's not the worst thing I ever read... However in my opinion I think we're seeing some incredibly overvalued content out of this account and we should take note of this.

While I can't red handed catch the guy plagiarizing I do feel that something is off here. I may be completely wrong and perhaps @mrron is an indian local with a taste for fine eating and loves to share it with the world.. But currently I view it as someone ripping off images and writing vague posts and basically raping the system. :/

I never meant to come off as abusive or a bully. If I did that was not my intentions at all and I will work on being friendlier to people even when I'm calling them out on what I think possibly might be some serious bad juju.

If the images are ripped off I agree that is abuse. If they are from public domain or something, then he's just writing a blog post about Indian food and using images to improve presentation as nearly every decent blogger does. (Clearly if the writing is plagiarism that's also abuse and then the entire post has no value.) That's not going to appeal to everyone but there is wide range of content types and I don't like the idea of narrowing the appeal to a few favorite or favored types of content that leaves out like 99.9% of the potential user base. I'll acknowledge this question is something I've been somewhat bucking the trend on since the launch.
