RE: Desi Foods in Karachi To Try

in #food8 years ago (edited)

Won't be surprised if this post goes to $1000+ like the rest of this guy's stuff.
That DOESN'T mean that you should up vote this. This could easily be voting collusion.

Infact I encourage folks to flag this content until this user comes up with a verification post and some proof of being at any of these locals.. I highly suspect that this account is nothing more than a crap account set up by a whale (or two) in order to multiply their wealth on the system's dollar.

Now @wang is voting on this guys stuff in hopes of curation rewards...

I believe this account is gaming steemit and being used by whale accounts to pilfer money out of the daily reward pool.

No verification post, no proof of residency or actually being at any of these places or eating any of this food... Brief highly overpaid content.. Correct me if I'm wrong but this deserves a bit of a whistle blow does it not?

Is this what we as a community wish to fund? Meaningless posts about food with literally not even a whiff of proof that this person's even eaten them? c'mon.

@smooth @dantheman @ned @berniesanders maybe have a look at this guys stuff. It all feels off to me.

Edit: Now He's revenge flagged my latest post.. Doesn't look good for this "honest user".
Come on now. This is not how we do things around here. Why Revenge Flagging Doesn't Work

Grats, you're the latest inspiration for my latest article!

STEEM WHISTLEBLOWER: Whale Bots Are Devaluing STEEM!

Please verify yourself man.. This looks way to damn fishy from where i sit. :/

You are entitled to not like the post, but to me it honestly doesn't look that bad. Is it a lost work of Shakespeare? No, obviously not. But it isn't terrible either. There are blog posts from some of our well known 'star' bloggers (and I don't mean introduction posts either) with little to no more substance than this that have regularly earned as much or more.

If you have evidence of abuse, that is one thing (and I did see a comment below about a photo possibly used without permission).

I really don't like the idea of users being bullied off the platform because their idea of participation happens to be different from someone else's idea. We need to be more inclusive, not trying to create some kind of barrier to entry for people who are just okay at blogging, and not superstars or famous (nor wanting to be famous).

I think it is legitimate to question or flag abuse, and it is legitimate to question or flag based on a judgement of rewards being outsize due to swarming or abusive voting on low- or limited-quality content, but I don't think it is legitimate to harass or verbally abuse someone based on these judgements alone without any actual evidence of abuse. To me it doesn't rise to that level yet, it is just an average mediocre post (though if it were earning $3-5K or more, I would certainly downvote it).

I really believe the better way to handle these situations is to attract more high quality content to the platform and then this arguably mediocre stuff will get pushed aside. Voting power is limited so people can't vote for everything. At the same time, rewards will be paid out every single day, so if there aren't any or many obviously great posts on that particular day, mediocre posts will get the money.

you have evidence in his previous post. i google reversed his photos and they are not free copyrights. He admitted to make mistake and he never took off the photos.

Damn , my posts seem to be under "mediocre" then . I need to learn from unvarified "super stars " I guess . I don't get it even though I start understanding how it all really works here . You gave me deep smooth insight .

@mammasitta I'm not familiar with your posts and did not intend to comment on them. Clearly there is a degree of luck element to which posts and whose posters happen to be noticed. My main point is that I don't find this post to be of obviously poor quality, nor do I think it is all that great. I didn't vote on it, but I can see where others find value in it. That is just a difference of opinion.

That's ok ! I am not familiar with many members but at least I take my time daily to find unique posts and enjoy every minute to learn more . In this case I really wish I would see who posts about Pakistan , a country I adore . Asking for a varification is fair .

Will reply asap when I finish it. This is a fair amount to digest and you have some valid points I will touch on ASAP.

Is it a lost work of Shakespeare? lol, Smooth you certainly have a fun way of spinning your words and I appreciate it. No, It's not the worst thing I ever read... However in my opinion I think we're seeing some incredibly overvalued content out of this account and we should take note of this.

While I can't red handed catch the guy plagiarizing I do feel that something is off here. I may be completely wrong and perhaps @mrron is an indian local with a taste for fine eating and loves to share it with the world.. But currently I view it as someone ripping off images and writing vague posts and basically raping the system. :/

I never meant to come off as abusive or a bully. If I did that was not my intentions at all and I will work on being friendlier to people even when I'm calling them out on what I think possibly might be some serious bad juju.

If the images are ripped off I agree that is abuse. If they are from public domain or something, then he's just writing a blog post about Indian food and using images to improve presentation as nearly every decent blogger does. (Clearly if the writing is plagiarism that's also abuse and then the entire post has no value.) That's not going to appeal to everyone but there is wide range of content types and I don't like the idea of narrowing the appeal to a few favorite or favored types of content that leaves out like 99.9% of the potential user base. I'll acknowledge this question is something I've been somewhat bucking the trend on since the launch.

This article could have been written by a computer for all I know. I just looked at the other posts all of them low quality content, no introduction post or even self-hosted self copyrighted images.

Something is fishy here, are the whales trying to make new self-controlled whales-account by posting non-content that is being upvoted for no reason?

@ned @dan take a look at this

I think they would only look at this if it was under "crypto-anarchism".

I wish I could reward you at least 1 cent for this

@kyle I agree with you on this content being highly overpaid. I am not bullying nor did I flag it @mrron however, I've read so many travel blogs every time I upload my travel posts and they have tastier contents that this. Perhaps @mrron post gives value to any reader who is traveling in Karachi now so it got this much upvotes or was it his timing? However, for authors like me who write our hearts out, select really good pics to spice the post and provide tips to places I featured on the travel category - IT HURTS that my articles are just getting ignored and outdone by posts that have been followed by bots or being posted by popular people. I am not complaining - I am just expressing how I have been feeling for some time now. I'm not the type who would easily get discouraged specially that I'm trying to learn whale talks however, it makes me wonder what kind of posts would actually dominate Steemit later.

Hello Klye,

I checked the other post of this guy. I think the pictures he is using are beautiful, but of course one might argue that putting together some beautiful picture taken from the internet is not worth 1000$.

As Bernie Sanders has voted on all of the posts, my theorie is that a friend of Bernie joined Steemit and he got some help through whale votes.

If this is the point, i cant blaim them, as my friends are voting for my post too, and i vote most of my friends post too.

But it might be good using the VOTING SLIDER if this is a friend/family member of a whale, to not have a huge discussion again in the future.

Why all the hate towards your fellow man?
"It feels off to me" is a euphemism for racism. People thought MLK felt off before they assassinated him.

You can fight racism by UPVOTING ME!

You don´t even have a picture of yourself on your blog or an introduction post, and all your pictures are found randomly on the Internet. For all I know you are a fat White American from New York.

Uuuupssss 🙈

hahahahahahhaahhahhaha

I'm racist for wondering why you haven't done a verification post or done due diligence in proving that you've been to any of these locations or had any of these foods? HAH.

Don't even pull the racist card. Do a verification post like everyone else and put your own personal flair into your posts and I won't be having to come in and have such low vibrational words with you.

whut? I don't get that line of reasoning at all.

Just verify yourself mate. Too many people have gamed the system for everyone to take your word for it. It should be easy if you really are in Karachi.

Seriously? Racism? GTFO.
