It's always gelato time
I was going to write a big post about gelato - Come on, it deserves a big one right? That cool, creamy, sugary, goodness...Yep, it deserves a big post. But...
I was thinking about that post and decided that whilst it might be a legit homage to gelato I may be overthinking it and that any old post about gelato would be a homage to the tasty treat. I mean it speaks for itself right?
Here you can see my wife looking pretty pleased with her gelato. She was annoyed I stopped her mid-lick for this photo but played along with a smile nonetheless. In the background you can see the spot we obtained our treats from...It's in Tanunda deep in the heart of wine country in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. We'd been out that way for a drive and to visit a lavender farm a couple weeks ago.
It was a nice day, warm, although quite overcast and due to the novelty of warmth, we're coming out of winter here) I declared it gelato weather. But in truth, as my title suggests, it's always gelato time is it not?
There's a couple of options for ice cream in Tanunda but we prefer the gelato from Beans and Cream as they hand make them on-site and it's scrum-diddly-umptious! You're going to have to trust me on that.
The image above shows the lovely gelato lady creating my cone...You can see her dipping into the pistachio flavour and front-and-centre you can see my second choice...The whisky cinnamon. Yep, you read that right....And yep, it tastes exactly like whisky and cinnamon.
As the name suggests Beans and Cream also serve coffee plus some cakes and baguette's and sandwiches however it is the artisan gelato's that steal the show. They only use local produce to create them and the results are nothing less than spectacular. Their multi-award-winning flavours have to be tasted to be believed and they let you do that before you buy also!
This locally-owned family business is one of the best in the business and whilst it's a bit of a hike from Adelaide to get there the effort is rewarded ten-fold.
Most tourists to South Australia will find themselves in the Barossa Valley at some stage, or should, and if you are one of those lucky ones you have to get yourself to Beans and Cream in Tanunda, 72 Murray Street, for gelato at Beans and Cream.
So, as I write this I find myself developing a hankering for gelato, whisky cinnamon gelato, however I'm in my office and just about to hi the boardroom for a meeting. I know I'm supposed to be focused, professional and engaged, and I will be...On gelato.
Happy day y'all.
Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default
Magnificent today in Adelaide. We'll start outside in the beer garden this evening.
Probably be a quieter one, as @holoz0r and @o07 are both regretfully engaged elsewhere.
I’ve got to shoot tonight, on the farm culling. Old man roo is getting out of control. I’ll be there for about 3pm. Hence my 5am start at work today. I’m glad the weather is so nice. I’ll have to miss out on the Jade tonight.

Take a jacket. No clouds, so it's going to get ugly quick when the sun sets; especially out North.
Already getting cold...

Twelve at the meet. Not too bad in the city. We stayed outside til home time at 9.
Pretty good turn out. Is there any plans for a BBQ for the end of year?
Also, I'm taking the Adelaide meet-up global next year. Going to plan one in Finland and maybe somewhere else. Germany? Not sure. It'll be on though, G&T's for sure.
I think there's a meet-up happening this Saturday in Finland actually, @tarazkp was telling me today. Their first ever?

Nice. You're more than welcome to take Adelaide everywhere. You're right. Time to organise the BBQ.
I'll get the conversation happening in Adelaide discord.
@galenkp That’s a shame, I just started reading your posts and it would be nice to say hello in person. Next time hopefully.

Hey there, yes a shame I can’t make it through another obligation. I’m sure we’ll catch up at some stage. Hoping for an end of year BBQ or something so maybe then?

In winter I will only consume any cold cream products inside a warm environment XD
Ideally I will only be outside in the cold for short periods of time during winter, it's a good thing I don't actually live aywhere cold
These little artisan places are the best. Been a while since I went to one of the smaller places or even chains (my area is "low socio-economic with delusions of grandeur that come with slow genrification" so the closest we have is a Baskin Robbins which is better than nothing).
Gelato is much more interesting than meetings anyway XD
Hope it is/was at least an interesting/useful meeting and not one that could have been done in an email ;D
Ugh I’m jealous! In the Boston area, I haven’t found a legitimate gelato place yet. They call it gelato but it’s just American ice cream. Thanks for the pics! Reminiscing hardcore lol
We all need a legit gelato place to feed our addictions...I wish you gelato-success, and soon! 😊

Yum...mmmmmmm… Quite a delicious post :>) That joint at 72 Murray St. seems to have as good a Gelato as any in Italy I tasted many years ago; I might have to move there...?!?!?!?
Gelato is a totally legit reason to uproot one's life and settle elsewhere. Hey, how amazing is the gelatin Italy! Been a few times and dayum it's good! 🙂🇮🇹

:>) I totally agree with your wise assessment about relocation, even if one needs to leave unwilling family members behind... There exists great reward within the diligent consumption of Gelato.
I love gelato! When I was in Rome I did as they do in Rome, and I had lots of gelato! :P
It's pretty nice. Did you know in Florence they have winter gelato? It's not as cold so can be enjoyed in cooler weather. Still cold of course though.

Did not know that. I guess I need to plan a trip to Florence during the winter so I can experience it!
Get it done. Life is too short not to.

I haven't had gelato for a while. I may have to remedy that sometime.
Get on it. You will regret it not.
