PART 1- Intermittent fasting

Hey there,
This is the first post of a chain of 3 posts, which will enumerate and go into some detail about the 3 most efficient weight loss methods which aren't utilized enough.

I thought of nothing more apt than uploading an informative post on getting lean for the coming summer. The goal here is to touch on the 3 most efficient methods used by casual gym goers and professional athletes alike. There is a common misconception that you need to work out a certain way in order to get "ripped". The truth is, that abs are made in the kitchen! So, without further ado, let's get straight into it!

Intermittent fasting (IF):

Your body is in a fed state from 3 to 5 hours from when you start eating. While in this state, insulin levels are high, making it difficult to burn fat.
After the fed state, between 8 and 12 hours after your last meal, your body enters what is called the post-absorptive state, during which, very few metabolic activities are taking place. It is the intermediate state.
Finally, we reach the Fasted state, during which insulin levels are optimally low, making fat burning substantially easier.
So the idea is, you fast for over 12 hours a day, eating only during the remainder of the 12 hours.

Benefits:

  1. Convenience- as you don't need to prepare as many meals.
  2. May reduce risk of cancer
  3. Increases longevity- it is a scientifically accepted fact that your body finds ways to prolong life under the fasted state.
  4. Doesn't require much self control

Disadvantages:

  1. Could potentially be dangerous for diabetics, or people in hypoglycemic states
  2. Should not be used by heart patients, as complications have been recorded

(A typical Intermittent fasting plan)

The 2nd installment of the 3 part series will be posted very soon, stay tuned, and don't forget to upvote and follow, for more informative posts!
