We’re Gettin’ The Hang Of It

After a rocky first week, the Power-Up Fitness Challenge Team PERSEVERED and picked it up with nearly 50% hitting their goal, and a couple of those who didn’t was due to circumstances out of their control. I’m really proud of the Team and excited to see more and more of us taking our fitness and health into our own hands.

The goal of the Power-Up Fitness Challenge is to complete 5 Daily Workouts from YOUR Sunday through Saturday. (You can’t double-up in a day to make them up. We’re looking for five days of activity.)

Week 2 Results (as of this posting):

All fitness levels can participate in the Power-Up Fitness Challenge because you choose your own workouts based on your interests and abilities. The Team includes walkers/hikers, elliptical enthusiasts and tree-huggers! The goal is consistent, daily activity.

Week 2 Power-Up Fitness Challenge Team:

@dreemsteem
@monchhichi23
@andysantics
@scuzzy
@swolesome
@mineopoly
@coachjj
We’d love for YOUR name to be here!

Unfortunately, we lost one Challenger due to illness. Send @swolesome some love and support as he recovers. Another Challenger, @monchhichi23 will hopefully be able to continue after an injury—sending well-wishes friend. We’ve also had a couple of new people show interest:

@alketcecaj
@datatreemap
The Team welcomes newcomers!

Onwards And UPwards!

Today kicks off Week 3 of the 6 Week Power-Up Fitness Challenge! Your Week 2 investment will be put into your “bank” if you met the goal or into the “pot”, if not. Your Week 3 investment of 0.5 SBD is due TODAY and will be held for you as incentive to meet your goal. All you need to do is follow-through with YOUR COMMITTMENT to workout 5 days this week.

Complete ANY workout you choose. Make it simple if you’re short on time. Set yourself up for success, by PLANNING your workout day and times as well as what you plan to do. Workouts just won’t happen on their own. Commit to yourself and your goals by scheduling it in your calendar. Do it right now!

What You Need To Do

This goal IS achievable. The key is PLAN and STICK TO YOUR PLAN. We’re also developing character by committing to a goal and following through with what we say we’ll do.

Action Steps:

  • Send your 0.5 SBD to @coachjj TODAY to claim your spot in the Challenge
  • Comment DAILY on THIS post in your own comment thread stating what # workout you’re completing, to keep a running tally of your workouts for the week (YOUR Sunday through Saturday). For example: @andysantics did an excellent job of this in her comment thread:
    9EC04176-68B2-4007-A7CD-F9EB7B565D0F.jpeg
  • Comment on other challengers threads to offer encouragement and support

At the end of the week, if you meet the goal your 0.5 SBD goes into YOUR “bank” to be returned to you at the end of the Challenge. If not, it goes into the “Team Pot” to be used as a prize pool for the Most Inspiring “Results” post at the end of the Challenge (as voted on by me).

Let’s Do This

I’m excited to see what we do this week as a Team. TOGETHER we can achieve our goals. I’m committing to add additional running and core to my workouts this week. What are YOU planning to achieve?

Ok, I will join you in this :-) I'm afraid I will lose a lot of SBD because I'm a bit lazy :-) Just sent you 0.5 SBD.

Got ya @alketcecaj! First things first, no more calling yourself lazy, redefine yourself. Next, set a clear, measurable goal. Third, schedule days and times you’ll workout, then keep those dates. You can do this.

Ok, I will try to do it! Now I have also the motivation :-)

How’s it coming @alketcecaj? Can I help in any way?

It is going just great ! Here is my fitbit screenshot for today :-) I also did some Zumba fitness aerobics today :-)

Wow! Great job! You don’t look lazy to me!!

This is Workout 1 for the week, correct? Just need to accomplish 5 total before Sunday!

I hope that I will make it 😉 What are some advices on keeping motivation high ?

Plan! Plan! Plan! Schedule your workouts into your calendar or to do list and KEEP that appointment with yourself, no matter what. Keep the vision of what you want to achieve in front of your eyes as often as possible. Know how you want to feel once you’ve attained your goal. This will keep your excitement and motivation high.

Nice job!!!!!! Proud of you!!!!

Noooo!!!! You will do this!!! Just begin :)
We are so happy you've joined us!!!!

I need to do this! I'm finally working out a little more, but I need to step it up. I'm slightly afraid to do a conscious challenge, though, since that always seems to bring out my WORST! I mean seriously, what is that about? I do worse when I actually join a challenge...

I don't have time to write at the moment (I'm off to my grandson's birthday party in a minute) but I do want to come back to this and commit to something.

Girl, we can help you break that cycle of Challenges bringing out your worst. We’ll be along side of you encouraging and cheering you on. Plus, you can choose whatever workout fits your lifestyle. Let me know how I can help you :)

Thank you. I will work on a plan/schedule tomorrow and officially write it out and all that! I've kind of got a couple of other challenges going on that should lend well to blogging and focusing on the mental/emotional side as well.

Sunday evening 30 min jogging + stretching
Should I add 0.5 to the bank?

Woohoo! Off to a great start @mineopoly! Yes, each challenger sends 0.5SBD each week. If you meet your goal, you’ll get it back at the end :)

Monday 30 min running around with my eight year old. Stretching time during the work day

Tuesday 20 minutes - that is my minumum... and yes I get us and stretch every 30 minutes

Now it is Wednesday and I will get in 20 minutes of cardio with my kids... We need it.

Nice job @mineopoly!!!!!!!
So happy that you're a part of this group hebehhee

Thanks. I'm still doing my workout. Today (Thursday) I did something extra. I played ping pong. Have a great week.

i've found myself adding in that "extra" too!!!!

THAT is the best part. that you get to just add a bit more, a bit more... and then - things are changing!!!

it all starts with one action - right?

thank you @coachjj!!!!

Yes! Exactly right! Get some Steem moving in the right direction and look out!

Hi @mineopoly, today is the last day to get your final workout in. I’ll be counting them up in about 20 hours. It looks like you already have five in, is that right?

Just to be sure. Saturday mountain hiking and stretching. Thank you coach.

Wow! Great job @mineopoly! Now let’s take this momentum into the coming week!

Okay, I am in. My goal is to do some Yoga every day and go for one hike this week.

Monday: 20 minutes Yoga - mostly hormone Yoga sprinkled with some regular Hatha. Cold outside and am very tired from overnight babysitting and not sleeping well 😜
All good. going to bed early today...

Yayyyyyyy!!! Welcome aboard!!! :)

I'm also going to do some yoga!!! Maybe today I'll start :)

Yoga is great!!! And I have neglected to keep my practice up and my body is complaining :)

Woohoo! Awesome plan in place! You can do this! Glad to have you with us :)

How’s it coming @mariannewest? Any workouts in this week yet?

okay - So, I guess I am putting comments here.

Sunday - 5 minutes Yoga

Yep! Just leave a comment in this thread every time you finish a workout and state what # workout it is for the week. Ex. “Completed WO 2/5 for the week of 20 min of yoga.”

Keep up the good work! Daily movement is our aim :)

I want to adjust my workout goal and change from the hike to working in the yard every day. I have a lot of schlepping and digging going on.
Today: broke down one tree (cutting and breaking into small pieces) walked one mile doing is and did some Yoga.

WO 3/5

WO 4/5 . Several hours of Yardwork which involved walking 1 mi + Some foam roller, some yoga. And my dog seems to want to be my trainer. At least 30 times today, I had to get up to either let her out or let her back in. 😜

Wow!! You’re killin’ it @mariannewest! Love to hear how you’re using work you need to get done outside as your physical activity! Keep movin’

Hi @mariannewest, today is the last day to get your fifth workout in. I’ll be counting them up in about 20 hours.

Thank you for the heads up. I will post in a bit!!!

Here we go: WO 15 minutes Yoga interrupted by finding a baby chick and having to rescue it from my dog. running to catch the mom and put them all safely into the nursery :)
Then 5 min of High-intensity aerobic movement followed by several very slow and deep stretches.

Awesome!! Great job! Let’s carry this success into this coming week!

I haven't have time to do work out hence the sagging belly after two sons. But I know I need. The most I do is leg exercise, that is also when I am lying down. Not much of exercise, more of warm up i think. and then guess what, I sleep. Anyway thanks for sharing this so that more and more will be motivated to work out. ;)

Sometimes, we can carve out little bits of time throughout the day. Anytime there is an idle moment, maybe where you have to wait for some reason, can be a time to squeeze in exercise.

Great fitspo. I definitely need to get into a better exercise regime. E

Join us @supernovastaffy! We can help you develop consistency!

WO 1 done - 26 mins on xtrainer - 4 fast 2mins 3 res and 19mins normal 1 min cool down. Traveled 1.42kms and burned 99 cals.

Way to go @andysantics! You and @mineopoly are settin’ yourselves up for a great week with a quick start!

WO2 done -27.10mins xtrainer - 19 normal - 4mins fast - 3mins 3 res - 1min cool down.
Traveled 1.5kms 104 cals burned
Going further :)

Ok so I haven't posted for the last couple of days coach but I have been doing some strength exercises both days. I'm looking to strengthen my lower back - Do you have any exercises you can share with me?
I only have to do todays to complete the week :)

Hi @andysantics, my favorite at-home exercise for the back is arch body holds (aka Superman). Gradually building up the length of time you can hold it to 1:00. I’ll be tallying up the workouts in about 20 hrs, it looks like you have your five done, is that correct?

Hi @andysantics! I wasn’t sure if you completed the workout you mentioned above or not. Since I’m writing it up now, I’m going to count it as not, but if you actually did just let me know and I’ll change it :)

Woo hoooooo!!!! Go @andysantics48!!!!

Your coaching here on steemit to better health and fitness will inspire us
to take our health matters seriously. Thanks for this initiative. @coachjj

Thank you @emmanuelacheamp. You should consider joining us!

Thank you for the good wishes @coachjj... I do need to take this week off and try to get my knee back to normal. It's to the doctor this week for sure. But I will continue to do what I can this week... And hopefully, I will be able to rejoin the challenge as soon as I am able.

Yes please keep us updated on what the dr says. Take it easy Chica :)

We hope you make it back! And if not.... Next time around maybe!!!! :)

Completed WO 1/5 today. Ran 1 mile in 10:35 over 1:00 off my original mile time and my original goal for this 6 week challenge! Woohoo! Gonna see if I can get better! Also did a yoga session.

Completed WO 2/5 today. Back Squats 3x10 reps at 125# and 1x7 at 145#. 5 rounds of 10 Toes-To -KB and 13 Am KBS 44#.

Completed WO 3/5. Mike run 11:02 pace. 25:00 yoga. 4:00 Hollow Body.

I was just going to ask how your challenge was going - this is soo awesome for you!!! Well done @coachjj. :)

Thank you, thank you!! I am excited! I ran with a friend who is faster than me; her push helped ;)

hey @coachjj just thought I'd let you know that I've lost some weight and am on track to meet my goal :) As of this morning I've lost 2.2kilos which is 4.8 pounds :)
Yay Go me!!!!! hehe but shhhh don't tell anyone else k..... lol

OMG!! That’s awesome!! I’m jumping up and down right now!!! Keep it up!

Yesterday completed WO 4/5. Rowed 1 mile in 7:23. Yoga session. Accumulated 3:00 Hollow Body hold.

Today completed WO 5/5. Assault Bike 4:00 warmup. Gymnastics class of various gymnastics drills.

Get it coach!!!! 😎 Nice job!!!! I am definitely not messing up my "winning streak"! I'll be getting in my 5 workouts this week too! Hehehehe
