Why do we need to fear change?
The world would not forever stay the same—
life is like so, it is not strange.

Are we satisfied to stay in the fringe?
Isn't that kind of boring life lame?
Why do we need to fear change?

We should go out and extend our range.
It is never good to forever remain tame.
Life is like so, it is not strange.

There is no need to fear being singe.
Even the stars is something we could claim.
So why do we need to fear change?

To be running and hiding is such a cringe.
Like a photo, we also need a change of frame.
Life is like so, it is not strange.

No need to think that we're out of range
—we are strong, and not some helpless dame.
So there is really no need to fear change
—life is like so, it is not strange.

What is a Villanelle?

 

A villanelle (also known as villanesque) is a nineteen-line poetic form consisting of five tercets followed by a quatrain. There are two refrains and two repeating rhymes, with the first and third line of the first tercet repeated alternately until the last stanza, which includes both repeated lines. The villanelle is an example of a fixed verse form. The word derives from Latin, then Italian, and is related to the initial subject of the form being the pastoral.
