I have never been appropriately dressed - Freewrite Day 731
I have always dressed like a bag lady, and it is much worse now that I am in SE Asia. No one here cares what I wear, and so I can degenerate as much as I wish.
I was a fat four year old, ugly, with freckles, and hair that hung down in my face. My beautiful, thin mother with curly hair everyone loved was always dressed to the nines. But, “There’s nothing we can do with you” she would say.
So I have always gone for comfort and layers. I don’t look in mirrors, so I am not bothered by the outcome.
When I first lost weight at 50, I thought I would finally try to “look better” but this was not to be. I spent a lot of time trying to find “nice clothes” a couple years after I lost weight.
It was one of my "projects" as I worked to become a well-adjusted (!) thin person.
I would go into boutique shops and have the ladies help me find things to wear. I spent at least 1000 usd on my futile quest. I sure wish I had that wasted money now.
No matter how good the sales staff said I looked, I saw an old hag trying to pretend she was not ugly. Though everyone said I looked younger thin, I only saw wrinkles when my face lost "half its size."
I would buy what they picked since they spent so much time with me. Then I would go home and throw it all in the trash.
In my town if you left anything on top of the trash cans, it would be taken by people who drove through for this purpose. If any of them were thin, they might have been happy.
After a few of these adventures in stupidity I stopped trying this idea and went back to Target for cheap stretchy clothes I did not have to try on first. What a relief!

Proper dress is something on my last list I care about @fitinfun.. not because I always thin and shorty😁 but because I don't listen to what people told me about how to dress up. Whenever I have to performed as a Master of Ceremony on non-formal events, my lil sis always prepared the dress I need to wear and she knew what's best for me.
When other brides would spent million rupiah's on their wedding dress, buy it or rent it... I didn't😊 as long as I don't wear burqini on a wedding party or flip flop at the inauguration ceremony.. my dress always appropriate. It's not the price.. but how comfort and confidence you are when wearing a dress or shirt😉 right!

Oh, Sharon. I feel so sad for you. How could your mom tell you that when you were 4 years old. Hugs! And you are not an old hag. I have Fibromyalgia so I dress for comfort. Keep doing what makes you feel comfortable. : )

It is my pleasure to deliver the prompts on Wednesday. I haven;t been able to do many freewrites or nominations in the past 6 weeks because my sister-in-law has been in the hospital during that time and she almost died. She is still in the hospital but thankfully, she is doing much better now. And then my cat almost died 8 days ago. He is doing much better now too. It sucks when our family members, people and pets get old. I hope you are doing better now Sharon. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.
