How to Improve through Enlightenment
I know it's a catchy title, but it's the truth. Here you will learn the secrets of enlightenment without ever having to go through 10,000 hours of meditation or whatever to see the light yourself. I'll just tell you what can be learned.
First of all, you learn that your body and mind are not you. Sometimes you think of this, sometimes you think of that, so thoughts aren't eternally present. Sometimes your awake, sometimes you're asleep, so your body isn't eternally present.
What part of "you" is eternally present? Simply your awareness. If you can be said to exist, it is as the experiencer. Knowing this as fact gives you freedom from your own judgements. Self confidence can find it's way in if there are no self doubting thoughts to trust in the entire mind.
Think about it for a moment. Every thought you have, including the ones reading this aloud in your head, are part of something which is not part of you. Something by which you are not defined.
How can you judge when your judgement is even more guilty of being an active thought than the previous one? When you cease to trust your thoughts, even the ones that say to trust or not trust your thoughts, you find a thoughtless place.
This thoughtless place of mindlessness exists here in the now. Without distraction. Seeing everything as it is. To the best of your knowledge. But wait isn't there an arguement against that?
If your knowledge is the one knowing the things you see, and your knowledge itself can change with new information, your knowledge is not you either. Nothing to define yourself by.
What you see and interpret, down to describing an objects features, is made up understandings of the mind. The first time you touched something soft, and someone told you the word soft, you assigned that word to that meaning. Now you feel a soft thing, and compare it to that memory to determine it's "softness."
Everything you can name follows this pattern. Anything with a name is constantly being judged based on its present merits compared with your understanding of it. The understanding you got from memory, from the mind.
Every thought you have is therefore a recreation of what is real, and a recreation cannot be the orignal thing. Every thought you have, is not the thing itself. This understanding allows you to distrust the mind and thoughts, to see that you are not your thoughts. Even the ones that think they are not thoughts.
Basically once you have this insane idea down in your core, you see the world more simply. You see things as they are, instead of as you believe them to be. It's a bit of a huge undertaking in changing your mindset and selfhood, but it does improve you!
and what else are we looking for?
Nonduality... Good stuff!
Schopenhauer called it Will and Representation. Unlike, you, though, I find no enlightenment here. In the end, the nihilists are correct. In the long run, nothing means anything......... In the short term, everything is ego projection and ALL is vanity.....Even notions of spiritual non-duality.
There's no escaping these facts unless there is a sentient personal deity.....That is the ONLY thing which nullifies nihilism.......
Beautifully done!
We're getting to know ourselves to find in the end that we are all one.
