How soon will energy farms become a reality?
Some were commenting on a previous post as to how long it would take for energy farming to become a reality.
The short answer is that it has already started.
In third world countries we have phone charging services and the like, some of these are already utilizing renewable energy sources.
These will simply continue to expand as the barrier to entry for owning and operating Solar PV etc. continues to decline.

Over the next 25 years, the world’s growing energy needs are met first by renewables and natural gas, as fast-declining costs turn solar power into the cheapest source of new electricity generation. Global energy demand is 30% higher by 2040 – but still half as much as it would have been without efficiency improvements. The boom years for coal are over — in the absence of large-scale carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) — and rising oil demand slows down but is not reversed before 2040 even as electric-car sales rise steeply.
WEO-2017, the International Energy Agency’s flagship publication, finds that over the next two decades the global energy system is being reshaped by four major forces: the United States is set to become the undisputed global oil and gas leader; renewables are being deployed rapidly thanks to falling costs; the share of electricity in the energy mix is growing; and China’s new economic strategy takes it on a cleaner growth mode, with implications for global energy markets.
Solar PV is set to lead capacity additions, pushed by deployment in China and India, meanwhile in the European Union, wind becomes the leading source of electricity soon after 2030.
There are lots of DIY guides on the internet that show how one can start generating their own electricity on a small scale, doing this will provide valuable experience for if one ever starts a small enterprise generating electricity.
Yes they already exist, very expensive to start off with but hopefully will pay off in the future, cheers

Lovely post, I also think small scale electricity is the way to go for us, we need to small down everything and to get more back to small community. I was thinking of this today, the thing with small communities was that it became rival so how to take that is another problem, but we can only try to do what we think can be done to the better and the result we can not predict. Small scale electricity is something I believe is a great solution to our energy problem. Thank you for this post.

Renewable energy sources, also called alternative energy, are mainly wind, sun, water, and other sources. The most important characteristic of this energy as well as sustainable energy is that clean energy does not add further pollution to our natural environment or to human health

Harvesting of this energy is free and non-polluting, but to build the components for energy harvesting requires materials, which have to be mined or obtained by industrial processes. Also the way we deal with old and broken parts (e.g. old solar panels) determines how clean this energy really is. Because if we just throw old solar panels on a pile in landfill, we will just recklessly let valuable materials rot and pollute our land and water.
