Always a rebel by Jon Magnusson

About
When done burning, the last tune and also the EP’s title track “Always a rebel”, soothes any possible parching that might have been caused by the previous song. An acoustic guitar every now and then reinforced by a smooth, almost dreamy, delayed electronic guitar and a soaring organ constitutes the foundation of this shimmering sound image.
And on top there’s the tale of the hibernated rebel that, no matter the ramifications, keeps his flag flying high and swims against the current. Equally inspired by real life heroes of the artist and an idealized image of his younger self this story gives a solid ending to this EP that skids between both genres and emotional states.
Lyrics
Walking with your head in the stars
Your eyes painted in black and your soul full of scars
Dreaming in your room when it's dark
Music on your mind and on your chin there's mark
You're a rebel always a rebel you are
You are old now but you were never meant to be
Your friends they go to work, whereas you're watching TV
Drinking for yourself in the street
Drowning your anxiety in whiskey and defeat
But you're a rebel, yeah a rebel you are
And as a rebel you can go where the wind blows, but you'll have to do it all on your own
You see yourself as disengaged so casual and smart
And pityful for the working man stuck in his car
No loan to pay no gallows swaying over you now
But deep inside you're longing for a life where you will never be a part
And as a rebel you can go where the wind blows, but you'll have to do it all on your own
And as a rebel you know where to start, but you will never, you will never be a star
But a rebel, always a rebel, you are
