Little Signs Cryptocurrencies Are Making Inroads in the Greater Public Arena!
Sitting in our little art and gift gallery today, I got to talking to a customer who also happened to be an engineer at Square Payment Systems.
Somehow, we got into a discussion about banks and the increasing demand for "peer-to-peer" payment systems. Although this fellow seemed fairly "mainstream," he was of the belief that conventional banks are slowly moving towards obsolescence.
"How do you like your Square setup?"
... he asked, noticing that we use Square for our payment processing.
I told him I thought it was great because it is very simple to use, doesn't involve leasing equipment, and and is super easy to take with us and use when we are at an "away" gig like a street fair or festival.
We then continued talking about the future of payment systems for merchants, artists and individuals. Including what many of us need, these days: The ability to take "secure" payment for something pretty much anytime, anywhere.
On a lark, I asked him "So when are you guys going to include Bitcoin as a payment option?" not expecting him to know what I was talking about, or perhaps to shrug it off.
"It's already in the late development stages," he said, "on some setups and payment agreements it's already incorporated."

Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised by just how far we've already come, in the cryptosphere.
Just the other week, I wrote about how you will soon be able to buy BitCoin through those green Coinstar change machines you see at a lot of supermarkets.
I realize it's easy to feel down because the prices of cryptos have been slumping, but the technology keeps marching forward.
And maybe there's an important reminder there: These things — blockchain projects — weren't created to make us all instant millionaires, they were created in an attempt to solve real world problems. The fact that we have gotten to make a little money from our involvement is just a cool fringe benefit... but not really the core prupose here.
Have a great day!
How about YOU? Have you had any recent experiences where you suddenly noticed the presence of cryptos in an everyday situation? What was it? Were you surprised? Leave a comment-- share your experiences-- be part of the conversation!

In an interview with Sam Harris, Jack Dorsey (Twitter, Square CEO) was talking about the future of blockchain communication. It would be strange if he didn't incorporate it into Square.
That's true. That said, I'm always cautious... lots of people say something is great and wonderful and revolutionary, but they don't always turn that into acting on it. This was just a nice thing to see, especially on a first-hand experience level.
To be honest, I never knew much about crypto currencies until I heard about the Steem platforms last year... I still don't know much, but I am trying to pay attention and learn more about it!
I do believe however, that once you become aware of something you never noticed before, all of a sudden you start seeing it everywhere!
I really enjoyed this post .. you keep us up to date on more live occurrences not just something you read somewhere. :) 🐓 For that, I gift you the chicken award.
EDIT: I have decided to throw in a !tip
Thanks for the tip @rebeccabe!
It just seems more real when you encounter these types of things in person, face-to-face. It seems to be happening more and more... regardless of whether the crypto markets are slumping, or not.

Not exactly original, but I was purchasing cannabis about a year ago when the seller suddenly offered a 20% discount if I paid in a major crypto. The same guy later bought some used equipment from a radio station using crypto and is now running a Norwegian podcast (not crypto-related) only accepting crypto from supporters. That's the first time I've seen a relative outsider to crypto integrate crypto into his life with any consistency. Great post, thank you!
Crypto is going to take over hopefully. Found this post on twitter, cheers!
Found this post on twitter so came to read it. I got into it to make some money, and still waiting for that. I'm big into hot, or holo, or holochain as I've already doubled my money on that this year and it's still going up. It could replace blockchain, who knows. As to banks, I use them, and do like cash money, but if it all changes to cashless, well, what can you do...
I seen today that you can now order domino's pizza with bitcoin, and with 5% off too. I think that will be something that gets many of the general public to understand money is changing, and to perhaps look to educate themselves on what bitcoin actually is.
