RE: Silver Bush and Blue Rock Bindweed - two plants you can use in the Garden

in #convolvulus6 years ago

Convolvulus cneorum (more commonly known as silverbush or Silver Bush) is a calm and classy plant for those who prefer an understated, charming dispay. An invaluable evergreen, the Silver Bush looks great at the front of a border or in a pot, where i t will last for years. This elegant silver leaved, white trumpeted convolvulus opens from pretty pink buds. 9cm pot grown plants supplied.

Also known as Convolvulus mauritanicus, this tender rock bindweed is a native of north Africa and a popular trailing plant for hanging baskets and containers. It’s also suitable for growing over walls and in rock gardens, where the stems could bake on the stones and root wherever they touched the soil. By late summer the bushy plants are smothered in clear, soft blue trumpets, attracting a wealth of pollinating insects. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

Grow Convolvulus sabatius in well-drained soil in a sheltered site in full sun. Take cuttings in summer or dig up plants and move them inside over winter for use next year.
