I’M FUNDING FOUR NEW CONTESTS ON STEEMIT WITH 200 SBD
Now I just have to figure out what they are…
@Papa-pepper is a huge advocate for community interaction and fun. I believe that contests are a great way for us to be able enjoy our time together, interact, and try to win some STEEM or SBD. I have ran quite a few contests in my time on steemit and I have donated prizes to many more.
My two current contests are the STEEM-Pocalypse Survival Game and my Wild & Strange Contest. The STEEM-Pocalypse Survival Game already has over 600 STEEM in prizes to be paid out this season and the Wild & Strange Contest still has 12 hours left for entries this round. All you have to do is turn the image below into a meme and reply to the post linked below with your entry for a chance to win 50 STEEM.
CONTESTS AS A WAY TO BUILD A FOLLOWING AND GET NOTICED
For a long time I have been suggesting that contests are an excellent way to build a following and get noticed. Once people know that you are running a fun contest and giving away some prizes, they suddenly want to keep a close eye on you.
Unfortunately many newer users cannot really fund their own contests since they do not have a large amount of STEEM or SBD and it is hard for them to find someone to donate prizes because they do not really know anyone here.
Now, @papa-pepper is giving you a chance to get some SBD to fund your own contest with, Anyone interested?
WHAT CONTEST IDEA DO YOU HAVE?
So, what kind of a contest do you want to run? There have been photo contests, scavenger hunts, riddles, guessing games, and story contests so far. Many other options, so get creative and see what you can come up with.
I will be donating 200 SBD total (currently worth about $400 USD) to fund four new contests. I will choose four steemians who reply below with 50 SBD each to fund their contests.
Think about it for a bit and submit a contest pitch below. Tell me what kind of a contest you want to run and how it will work. Also, please tell me how the prizes will be paid out and what the frequency of the contest will be. Will you run a one-time contest with 50 SBD for the winner? Will you run a daily contest for 10 days where each winner gets 5 SBD? Will you give 30 SBD to the winner and pick two runner ups for 10 SBD each?
Obviously, the options are limitless. You can create any contest idea and break down the prizes however you want. Hopefully, this idea will bless a lot of steemains with contests to run and to enter, and help more of us to meet one another and have some fun interacting.
CLOSER
Keep in mind that this is a one-time gift. I do not plan on giving you 50 SBD every week to keep your contest going. You may want to consider another to fund the contest if you want to continue to run it. Perhaps you could find another donor or donate a portion of your post payouts to the prize pool. It can be difficult to fund contests with the post payouts for newer users, so hopefully my donation will get you off to a great start.
I’ll give you a few days to pitch your ideas. On Wednesday I will make my final four choices and donate the SBD. Take your time and make a professional, creative pitch that will interest me and catch my eye. Best wishes to each of you as you consider what kind of contest you would run.
As always, I’m @papa-pepper and here’s the proof:

There is Facebook, there is Steemit and then there is papa-pepper a world of its own... good job papa
Lol , thank you.
My NBA Finals Contest could be over very soon, so I'm already thinking about my next one.
My current proposal:
A Wimledon (Major Tennis Tournament in England) based contest, where you can choose two men and two women, their world rankings can't total less than 50. You get points for how far they get in the tournament.
Winner takes 60% of the Prize Pool, 2nd place gets 30% and 3rd place gets 10%.
@nepd, i created a new steemit account and facebook page, just to promote the various fantasy sports contests around steemit. Check us out @fantasy.sports. Woukd be happy to help with your tennis game. Still building followers for this account. But gonna blow this thing up!!!
Hmmm.. that sounds good. I'll see what the others submit.
This seems like a fun idea! I love tennis.
@papa-pepper, I have recently created a new account @fantasy.sports to help promote and curate existing fantasy sports games from around steemit as well as eventually host unique contests. Right now the thing i nerd most is to drive traffic to the new account and build followers. Any assistance you could give would be great. Even just a shout out in a future post or something. I have also made a facebook page to share the fantasy sports games and hopefully bring in new memebers from there. Thanks for all you do for this community.
For folks that need ideas, think about holiday centered contests to get you started:
Halloween: Scary story, home decoration, best costume, best party planning
Christmas: Story writing, best home decoration, best tree decoration, best family postcard
etc etc
In general, writing humor centered writing contests would generate some attention
I ran a few contests last year; far and away the best responses I had were for the writing contests
I wish I had the focus to run more contests, but they took a lot of my time to run ;>
Follow the Writer
I'll provide 3 writing prompts the first week, out of which the contestants can choose and write their entry. Every following week, the contestants will continue the story of last weeks winner.
I really enjoy reading the writing prompts on Reddit but unfortunately, most of those stories stop after the first entry. With this contest I hope the keep the writing chain going :)
(I only did a quick search and couldn't find a contest like this on Steemit, but let me know if I'm wrong.)
Kind regards.
Follow me @beordo or learn about me.
Interesting idea!
Hey there! It's not the same at all, but I'm doing a writing prompt a day on Steem.
Hi Papa-Pepper I already started my new contest with riddles. You can even look at first riddle which was released today 12:00 UTC time. If you like you can resteem and add some money to the pool :)

I know that you upvoted my 1st post and I am happy about this. Thanks a lot :)

This one :)
It seems that people like it. I'll see.
@papa-pepper here you can find explanation of 1st Riddle: https://steemit.com/steemitriddlechallenge/@mr-riddle/steemitriddlechallenge-edition-1-riddle-1-solution Just take a look, maybe it will help you with decision taking :)
@papa-pepper Mr.Riddle has the best contest, of course just behind you! :)
Mr Riddle to the moooon
Nobody really saw my post, and I haven't got back around to it YET but I want to build a virtual homestead community within steemit and payout based on plot value.
Concept
Enter with your companions, gear, profession and build up your plot. Get paid a portion based on the value of your plot and you can sell or trade.
Winning!
Obviously, getting in on the "ground floor" would be the most desirable but where you end up and how much you build your plot determines your portion of the payouts.
Hope you don't mind the link @papa-pepper?
I support this, good on you @papa-pepper ...I am currently funding my own contest for the USOPEN and only have ONE entry so far with a maximum potential payout of $500 to the winner, and regardless a minimum payout of $10 to the winner. Would you mind supporting it, not through money, but through an upvote and resteem instead? I figure at the very least, some new steemians could use a $10 boost. the link is below to make it easy on you if you decide to help out. Please let me know if this post is not wanted on your comments and I will immediately remove it.

Ok.. crazy idea for steemit game: What about making a contest (any kind) in which the winner will be the comment with LEAST upvotes. This experiment might create an interesting upvote spiral as all contestants will try to upvote their opponents.
*Only posts from first day or two enter the competition and then 3-4 days for an upvote madness:) Otherwise it would be won by the person who comments last.
Now that is interesting. People could make a lot of money losing!
Exactly, that was the goal. Its a bit hard to explain the rules to contestants but if someone can pull this off its you..
I like it! I'll fund it!
Great! I will prepare details..
I just posted this weird CONTEST :D I would be very happy if you decide to resteem that post. I tried my best to make the rules as fair and simple as possible. Thanks!

Great idea
Haha yes ! I can see the crazyness here indeed ^_^
I like this one! very new concept :) I would definetily join.
Hmmm... maybe a contest on designing steem-themed 3D printable models ?
Like a steampunk locomotive with the steem logo and address (er even a QR code on the bottom of the model)
I think there's potential in that...
I'd personally organize such a contest as divided into 2, each steem-themed but also an additional theme (steampunk for one and futuristic for the other, for example). (each model, to guarantee uniqueness, would have your steemit username and a QR code for donating to you... then I'd need to think up how to be SURE they're relatively original submissions, and not just a model from some other creator with the steem logo plastered on it)
The prizes would be 15 SBD for first prize and 10 SBD for second prize. possibly adjusted a bit so there's the possibility fo rewarding those that went above and beyond and actually printed (and provided print instructions for) their 3d model.
The winners would be chosen by the community.
or maybe I'd harass some of the good people on steemit who have already designed promotional steemit material (I'm looking at you @papa-pepper XP) to help as a panel of judges for 1st prize, and have the second prize be who the community votes for (if it's the same, then whoever got the next-highest votes).
There's lots of variability possible. Have a Remix competition where you need to take 2 models from a given set of open-source full-reuse-possible 3d models and remix them, then apply some Steemit branding to it...
Just my proposition (IF I'm chosen, I wouldn't know where to start to properly organize it... but you asked, so I answered XD)
my idea reminds me of the self-replicating self-owned robot flower I read about in december.
Yup... that's a thing...
It's even got it's own Bitcoin wallet to pay artists to make slightly altered copies of it (the self-replication part !!!)
Oh, the thinks we can think XD
