I'm writing this entry for the #constrainedwriting contest @svashta is hosting.

Rules for the contest:

Write a story from the perspective of an inanimate object, but never tell us explicitly what it is

Here's my piece...

He heard from the radio how people fight for freedom - how they speak for the poor, the voiceless and the oppressed, and how they wage wars and obliterate cities for freedom' sake.

But he wonders why no one speaks for his family. If what he heard was right, his family and the entire generation before them have been born without freedom.

Ever since he was brought to this world, people do as they please with him.

Just last night, this girl, Linda, decided he should wear a pair of woman’s corduroy pants, and he wore it without complaint. One time he was wearing a skimpy dress while an un-matching scarf hang askew his slender neck, again he took those with his chin up. He was a man, petty things like a woman’s clothes don’t faze him.

Sometimes he wore the same clothes for months, until Linda remembers he needed to change. His siblings suffer the same fate. He can’t say anything about his parents though because when Linda went to college, they went with her and he never saw them again.

Now Linda lets him wear the brown leather jacket his father wore the last time he saw him. Later that afternoon Linda puts another jacket on him. It made him feel hot and sweaty, but he never complains.

He doesn’t even make a sound even if Linda had him wear an old shirt she used to wipe the dusty window.

They were born without freedom, but somehow it doesn’t feel not right at all.

A hanger? :D

Word of advice, though:

Just last night, this girl, Linda,

Since it's always the same girl, you could easily omit "this girl"... :p
Also;

it doesn’t feel not right at all.

You have 2 negatives in a row here.

Yeah. It was that easy, huh? :D

Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback!

Although for the last one, the double negative was there on purpose.

Not at first :p

Hmmm. Now that you mention it...
Makes sense :p

Thank you very much for your entry :D

Welcome! I'm having fun with these contests and prompts. :)

I don't think it was easy! I thought it was a teddy bear :) Great writing.

Oh, wow. Thank you! Your comment just made a fangirl's heart swell. :D
