Colorful Hundertwasser House in Vienna 斑斓的维也纳百水公寓

Everyone knows Austria as the home to classical music. Besides the great musicians, there are many outstanding artists born and raised in the country, such as Gustav Klimt and Friedensreich Hundertwasser.

If you’re a fan of architectures, especially the non-traditional ones, you cannot miss the Hundertwasser House (German: Hundertwasserhaus) when you visit Vienna.

You can get there easily by taking public transportation tram line 1 or metro U4. You can even follow the crowd after you arrived at the station – most of them should be visitors😊

大家都知道奥地利是古典音乐的起源地。除了古典乐巨匠们之外，奥地利还有很多杰出的艺术家，例如画家克里姆和画家/建筑师百水。

如果你是建筑迷，又偏爱非常规建筑，那来到维也纳请一定抽空去看看百水公寓。

百水公寓可以坐公交一号线或者地铁四号线到达。下车后跟着人群走就好了，大部分人都是冲着百水公寓去的😊

The Hundertwasser House is colorful and eccentric –

• You cannot find one single straight line from the building.
• None of the windows are identical.
• Trees and shrubs are growing on the balconies, roof terraces and the building wall.

That’s exactly Mr. Hundertwasser’s unique style.

• He started his artist life as a painter, and was inspired by Gustav Klimt and Klimt’s protégé Egon Schiele.
• He hates straight lines and called them ‘godless and immoral’ and ‘something cowardly drawn with a rule, without thought or feeling’.
• He hates symmetrical layout.
• He believes people should live in harmony with nature.

百水公寓外观斑斓而奇特，一看就不走寻常路：

• 建筑外墙没有一条直线。
• 每扇窗户都是不同的。
• 树和藤蔓在阳台、屋顶和外墙自由生长，甚至略显杂乱。

这就是百水先生的独特风格了。

• 他的艺术之路始于绘画，艺术风格受克里姆特和克里姆特弟子埃贡·席勒印象颇深。
• 他痛恨直线，觉得直线这种东西冰冷刻板，毫无美感。
• 他排斥对称，理由同上。（想到了柯南某集的对称控建筑师。。）
• 他认为人与自然应该和谐共处。因此有人的地方就有植物。

Unfortunately, the Hundertwasser House can only be viewed from outside because it is a residential building. Today, most of the residents live in this building are artists. I think the building finds its perfect residents😊

But you can visit the Hundertwasser Village just opposite to the street. It was built following the exact style of Mr. Hundertwasser in 1990. There are souvenir shops, cafes and a rooftop forest with in the village. Will be a great place to take a rest.

据说公寓内部风格也是没有一条直线。但是因为现在还是民用住宅，百水公寓内部并不开放参观。住在里面的居民多为艺术家——我觉得对这栋公寓楼来说，没有更合适的住户了😊

但是也不要沮丧，你可以参观旁边的百水村。百水村在1990年完全按照百水先生的风格建造。里面有纪念品商店、咖啡厅和房顶花园。对了，印象中纪念品商店非常好买。
