Vivid Bo-Kaap in Cape Town

My entry for the colourful photography challenge @photocontests

At the foot of Signal Hill lies the famous Bo-Kaap Settlement that is known all over the world for ist cheerful and colourful houses. Over 90% of its inhabitans are muslimic of the Shafi‘i and they share the overall vibe of their homes by being outgoing and welcoming to whoever stumbles across their part of Cape Town.

There are a total of 10 mosques right in the midst of the community that are fully taken care of by the residents.

Cape Town is famous for its multiculturalism. Of course there are times where cultures clash and South Africa has proven time and time again that those moments of confrontation can have destructive consequences for all that are in the radius of Impact. But in the end one thing will always prevail, it is the human thirst for harmony and coexistence.
And Bo-Kaaps streets surely have a way of showing that colours of all kind can exist in unity.
