This quality of life increase that can come from being great at curating and producing quality content is a strong skill to develop and being paid out to do so is a great way to ease the barrier of entry into investing with Cryptocurrencies! Steem is great to foster growth in developing communities. That's what has me investing time (and soon $) into this.
