RE: On causing offence... against good intentions #resolution2018

in #change7 years ago

I feel attracted to your writings. Must answer before I get back to your comment on my blog. It touched me to read what you have to say. I would like to ask a question: did anything of the listed things happen to you or someone you know in person?

From my experience it is not a question of making an excuse but rather finding a way to live with an experience like that and not letting the past directing the present life. Those mentioned things did happen and will happen again. You cannot prevent them. Life on this planet will always have atrocities in the same way as it has beauty. You can live by strong ethics and maybe find out that it is much more difficult even to live up to one of the commandments or values for a whole week than you might have thought.

For some reason I like to challenge you. I do have the feeling with some people here and I am happy you found me. It is not often, that someone takes the effort to read in 4 months old articles. :)

Maybe you'll like the blog of @vimukthi as you traveled Asia, too. He is a crazy guy and gives many stuff to read. Almost unreadable and obsessive, as he himself describes him.

Have a good night, where ever you are.

I will take the challenge! You are right, these things happen again and again until we figure out why we so much attached to those thoughts & ideas that we have about them. I'm learning more and more to keep my expectations only applicable to myself. It's hard, because I feel the world we live in is extremely based on judgment. Which is why I like this idea of 'causing offense' - to not put thoughts about someone else before your own values.

And yes, I've experienced it often, to not dare speak because of fear of being judged. That is insane. Causing offense is not meant to harm, but to totally be honest about what you believe in - and in the past year I've been trying to hold true to this, and some amazing things have happened. Including bad things, which made me learn a lot about myself!

Thanks for your encouraging words. Good night from the Netherlands!
