#challenge30days - Mindfulness: road to enlightenment (6/30) - 30 Days blogging/meditation streak
In the last days we talked about mindfulness in activities like eating and walking. But my absolute favorite activity where i like to practice mindfulness we haven't yet covered...
Water is such an amazing element. Thus, I really really love this quote from Bruce Lee:
“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.
Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
And it might sound silly, but I believe that in order to become water, it helps to feel water. In my opinion a body can be in a much more relaxed state when it is in the water.
In order to become water try these tips:
- Let your body get used to the water for 2 minutes
- 2 Minutes of focused breathing. When breathing in, try to pull in as much air as possible. When breathing out, let go and release the air. But don't push.
- After two minutes of breathing, let the air out. Still no pushing, just letting go.
- Totally relax. let your body submerge. You will notice that you can hold your breath surprisingly long.
- When you feel the urge to breath, surface and take a deep breath and hold it.
- Once the urge to breathe returns, let go and continue to breathe normally.
- repeat.
By doing this exercise, you rise the oxygen level in your body's system. This can make your body tingle, or you might feel lightheaded as well. An amazing feeling...
You can do this exercise without water too. Just lie down on a bed and follow the breathing instructions. Though i think the effect has more impact when practiced in the water.
I would love to hear your feedback on how this exercise made you feel, so let me know in the comments below :)
This is part of the 30 days writing challenge by @dragosroua. I combined this with a mindfulness challenge. My goal with this is to improve writing & english skills as well as becoming more self aware.
I'll have a go at this exercise.
I've been pretty stressed recently so I hope this helps
Hope it does help you :)
