#challenge30days - Mindfulness: road to enlightenment (2/30) - 30 Days blogging/meditation streak
This is part of the 30 days writing challenge by @dragosroua. I combined this with a mindfulness challenge. My goal with this is to improve writing & english skills as well as becoming more self aware.
Starting out slow
Although i have already practiced meditation before, i feel like i am starting from zero. last night before bed I sat down for my first session. I immediately knew that it would take a while to get used to it once again...
back to the basics
There are tons of variations in terms of mindfulness and meditation practices, but i decided to start over from scratch. The most fundamental method is a breathing exercise. You sit in an upright position, either on the floor or on a pillow, legs crossed. You could also sit in a chair, however in my opinion this makes it harder to focus.
And then you just breathe. You try to only focus on the breathing. Forget about appointments, bills or worries. Just. Breathe.
Feel how the air goes through your nostrils and fills your lungs, then let it go. Feel the oxygen enter your bloodstream. Feel the air you are breathing. Is it warm? Or is it cold? Does it stink or have a nice smell? Feel the gaps between breathing in and out. Observe, but don't judge. Once the thoughts begin to wander, pull them back to the breathing.
This exercise is simple, but powerful. Doing it for five to ten minutes every day, can already have an impact of how you think and channel your thoughts, thus becoming more focused.
I also tend to feel a bit light headed, right after the meditation session. Of course, the major benefits will show over time, but i am pumped to walk this path once again, and will definitely stick to it this time.
Thanks for reading, and stick around for tomorrow, when i will be talking about the number one mindfulness killer.
Love mindfulness information, I will devour it and try to put it into practise. Upvoted and followed.
Thank you! it's so nice to see that my post inspired someone. :)
