Just 2-3 more weeks...

in #cannabis6 years ago (edited)

Yes, just 2-3 weeks... until I get to wait for the harvest to cure, ...then trim, ...then finally smoke. I know, poor me. Still, It's a lot of work and I'm lazy.

It's been about a week since my last update. I started flushing last week and stopped adding PH down to my water tank a few days ago. They're starting to yellow up finally.

The weather has been pretty nice so I've caught a break there but still have to cover the cold frame at night. Temps are very unpredictable out here. This week it's been mid 70-80's during the day to 30's at night. As you can see frost got my Cinex last week before I got my cold frame up.

The Obama is just starting to fill out. It should be done by September 25th. That's when I harvested last year. Once again, photos don't do justice.

Very impressive, I just started my first outdoor grow this year but got a very late start because of buying a new home in late june. Then we had to deal with excessive heat and then flooding rain for nearly all of july so I had to keep them indoors much longer than anticipated (basically their entire 6 week veg).. They are looking healthy but don't look anywhere as good as urs.. Yours are very very nice my friend.. I can't wait to see ur finished product :)

Thank you @moderndayhippie! I appreciate the encouragement. Congratulations on the new pad! Sorry to hear about the weather issues you had this year but every year brings new obstacles and with it opportunities to learn. However your grow turns out this year its likely to be better next year. At least that's how it worked for me (last year was a huge disappointment). I made some mistakes this year with the amount of nitrogen still in the soil (harder to grow "off the bottle"). I'm trying to flush that out right now. I'll make sure to keep my fellow steemians updated.

Thanks for taking the time to comment back, I appreciate the encouragement and support from a fellow grower.. I have grown for over a decade in doors but never outside.. I definitely just see this as a learning curve and will prepare better next year.. However, this year alone I have already successfully beat spidermites, high winds, learned to deal with rain, flooding, excessive humidity and realized how different the two grows are so I feel ready to tackle next years grow!! If u have any suggestions or comments I would really appreciate the help :) Thanks, take care. 😁✌

No worries @moderndayhippie. I'm not a professional grower by any stretch, but I'll happily contribute however I can. I love being part of the free exchange of information. It sounds like you've already overcome quite a few obstacles this season. Kudos, for coming out on top of them. The best generic advise I can give is to feed the soil not the plant. You may already know this but it was a breakthrough for me. I'm sure next year will be even better for us. As long as we are continuously learning from our mistakes, how could it not be.
Cheers and Steem On!

Excellent job!

We're just getting into the flowering cycle. Crossing all fingers that they have enough time to run the full course.

What were the low temps getting to for you guys? Here in MA temps are still pretty reasonable.

Also did you manipulate their light cycles at all?

Great looking grow, congrats!!
@massmedicinals

Thanks @massmedicinals.

Low's were down to 30 degrees earlier in the week, then it warmed up a little. It was 39 last night. A cold frame is a must around here (I learned from last year). Also, selecting strains with the shortest flowering period. Last year, out of 4 strains, Obama was the only one that I didn't have to take premature. The other three were better suited to Southern Oregon/Northern Cali.

No light manipulation was used, just vegged indoors.

Thank you for the motivational words. Keep Steemin!

Given our vast experience working in a vacuum. That's essentially what an indoor grow is... We did not do our own due diligence researching the importance of strain selection for outdoor operations.

Wow, hopefully we do not experience those kind of temperatures anytime soon over here on the east coast.

Yeah, it's pretty extreme out here that is for sure. Outdoor and indoor are completely different animals. Due to the legal status of cannabis, many people can grow well indoors but are unprepared for the high winds, temperature fluctuations, hail, rain, animals, pests, and foreign debris, etc... Every season is a learning experience.

Learning experience... Well said!

How long did u veg indoors for?

4-6 weeks I believe. Clones were taken in late April and put outdoors in early June. I would have put them out sooner but it still freezes in May sometimes around here and I would have had to keep them under artificial light to keep them from triggering too early.

Thank you @jonyoudyer! You've got a great blog. Followed!

Cannabis is a wonderful thing, and to be able to grow it is even greater!! Even though im small time, I can relate to even the guy who runs 3 greenhouses! Except i guess i have more free time then that guy, lol. Thanks for the love man.
