Grandmas Change Their Mind On Cannabis

in #cannabis6 years ago

Seniors today are one of the fastest growing cannabis demographics in the United States.

You can find seniors around the U.S. who are getting in-line to purchase something that they find helps them to treat a myriad of different ailments and illness.

It might come as a surprise to some that this demographic is the fastest growing, considering that many of these individuals grew up during a time when the anti-cannabis propaganda was rampant.

Many of these seniors have gone their entire lives without ever touching cannabis, but now they're willing to set aside their fears and possible misconceptions and explore to see what cannabis has to offer.

Cannabis has a long history of being used as medicine

Still today, there are many people who are afraid to be open about their cannabis use because they are afraid of being judged and being subjected to the negative stigma that still surrounds this seemingly miracle plant.

Legalization is popular with the younger crowd, but with those who are over 72 years of age, according to PEW they aren't as jazzed about the prospect.

It's estimated that only about 35 percent of that group approve of legalization. However, that approval percentage is higher than that found on a similar survey from several years earlier. Back then the approval was seen to be around 29 percent.

No Regrets...

For 5 seniors in New Jersey who have experimented with medicinal cannabis use, they recently agreed to be interviewed by the Santa Maria Times about their experience.

They ranged in age from 81 years old to 93 years old and for all 5 of them they admitted that they were glad that they had tried cannabis for the first time.

The majority of their use involved using edibles because they don't leave that odor that's associated with smoking. Using edibles makes it easier for them to medicate in a variety of circumstances.

For one senior patient, she admitted that she was stunned to see how it helped her with her quality of sleep and decreasing her back pain.

There are many more with similar stories, who are being helped by cannabis when there was literally nothing else left that would work for them. Rather than having to suffer and live in pain, cannabis is offering them peace and a higher quality of life.

If cannabis is going to give you happiness and more good health, Welcome!

Grandparents deserve a long life

They are realizing later but sure. In addition, we are almost in 2019. I am glad to know that the grandparents are leaving their fears aside, the more people see this type of experiences, the more people will be able to follow this example and alleviate their pain and how you say have a better quality of life

The senior years are full of knowledge; and, the scope of everything life.
Many have observed firsthand the healing benefits; and, trust what they see.

Many chemo patients of all ages attest that cannabis takes the edge off treatment.

I've observed in comparison how people who take synthetic Rx v. marijuana after chemo treatments are able to function. On another note, veterans who suffer PTSD tell how effective cannabis is to managing symptoms, over Rx anxiety meds. For these reasons, I am a staunch proponent of medicinal marijuana.

I believe the fact that Big Pharma's showing 'interest' means they see a profitable market. Personally, I'd rather people be able to grow their own plants (limit 4) without penalty. However, this would cut in on Big Pharma's take, so I won't count on it.

Best regards.

Peace.

@doitvoluntarily older people are more likely to hear the news, medical cannabis is having a lot of diffusion on TV, that makes older people understand and more open to changes
