How many endings does "Black Myth: Wukong" have, and what are the unlock conditions?
Here’s a translation:
In the past few days, major streamers have faced the challenges of destiny directly, while I, being a less skilled player, can only experience the game through cloud gaming. As a Souls-like game, "Black Myth: Wukong" has a certain level of difficulty, but watching skilled players complete it flawlessly and perform seamless combos is incredibly exciting.
Also, the following contains minor spoilers, so fans of the story should skip this!
- The quickest completion will result in the worst ending.
- To achieve the perfect ending, you need to spend a lot of time on collecting all elements.
Given these points, 99% of players will get stuck on these two obsessions. Therefore, you might need to play "Black Myth: Wukong" several times to unlock all endings.
Continuation of the Journey to the West Ending
In this ending, the destined one faces off against the remains of the Great Sage. After defeating the remnants, the Great Sage’s body disintegrates, and the Golden Hoop falls.
Subsequently, the old monkey places the Golden Hoop on the destined one, transforming them into Sun Wukong, who then continues on the Journey to the West.
The old monkey says: “Sun Wukong has long since died, and the world will give rise to another suitable successor who will inherit both the essence and the name. This chosen successor is the destined one. With Sun Wukong gone, this successor may as well be him.”
The first playthrough ends here, and the second playthrough begins.
In this ending, the player has not completed any hidden quests or defeated any hidden bosses, only dodging and defeating key bosses along the way, ultimately failing to obtain the True Scripture. For most players, this ending is far from perfect; the monkey did not undergo the 81 trials but rather sought a quick completion, falling back into the cycle and never truly becoming the Great Sage.
Hidden Ending for the Battle with Yang Jian
To trigger the hidden ending for the "Battle with Yang Jian," players must complete specific pre-tasks in Chapter 5, such as unlocking Guashen, the Water Avoiding Golden Eyes Beast, Fire Spirit Mother, and the Red Gold Battle Chariot. Then, head to the Floating Pagoda to activate the mural storyline and access the hidden ending. If you can't enter, try completing all side and hidden tasks in Chapter 5.
After defeating the Four Great Heavenly Kings (Fatiangxiangdi) and Yang Jian (transformed with Bajiu Xuangong), Yang Jian says: "After that battle, until today, I’ve realized. A lifetime of fame cannot contain him. A single restraint cannot bind him. Through the death of his flesh, he traded for the eternity of his will. May you not fail him. My heart is at peace, but your path is only beginning."
In this ending, the protagonist battles the remnants of the Great Sage. After victory, the Great Sage’s remains dissolve, and the golden hoop falls. The old monkey tries to put the golden hoop on the protagonist, but they refuse and reclaim Sun Wukong’s memories. This ending also reveals the suffering of the demons, prompting players to reconsider justice versus evil and good versus bad.
Currently, only two endings are known; there are likely more for players to unlock. Feel free to share any other endings you've discovered in the comments!
