The first rule of Steemit is to not talk about EOS. The second rule is to not mention any potential Steem competitors that are possibly being built on EOS.
Check out this wonderful comment by @vimukthi on a recent post by @dan:
There are several in this community who, apparently, are hostile to EOS and the future of DPoS as a means to structure our communities and have a platform to help us quickly build dApps/DACs to organize our new free societies.
Will Steemit.com turn in to the new /r/btc? Seems like it.
Tor my fellow Bitshares and EOS community members, if a Steem competitor was built on EOS which was more friendly to our views and didn't try to suppress our opinions, would you power down and move over?
The early Steem distribution model will hurt this platform for a very long time. The reason that I create posts like this is to engagement with the Steem community and hear your feedback. This is a great blockchain with real use cases that helps so many people build their network and earn a little extra crypto-cash. I want to see this platform succeed, but suppressing valid opinions and thought experiments will drive me and other community members away to other platforms.

With the SMT protocol rolling out soon that will be a mute point. New steemit-like apps with their own token distributions will be possible.
we'll see how the SMT's work and if they are picked up and used. I'm still uncertain as to how the SMT tokens and the Steem tokens will be used together. Can the SMTs basically set their own inflation, voting power, etc? Will the Steem token only be needed in a very small # of use cases now?
SMTs can be configured to have their own inflation, reward distribution rules, etc and can be set to ignore Steem Power of the accounts and only use the vests in SMTs to determine reward allocation. The last point is the reason why the current steem power distribution will be a mute point.
I can see existing steem apps issuing their own tokens (busy, chainbb, dtube, utopian, zappl, etc). Of course the success of these and other projects will depend on the growth that they can obtain outside of the Steem ecosystem which also applies on platforms that launch on other blockchains.
Wouldn't the nature of EOS be that anyone could build a steemit competitor as a dapp?
If so, it wouldn't really matter what Dan's opinions are on the subject.
exactly.
Personally I’ll go wherever the users are.
EOS is going to be great and the best apps will rise to the top. Its ridiculous to try and suppress anything.
i agree with you the Steem distribution model will hurt this platform for a very long time.! ashe-oro! wow that great share by you!you always inspired us!thank you!
you are always welcome :)
you are the one who I always waiting for your post! but few days you don't post!keep it up dear
I guess it would make no sense to build a competitor on EOS from @dan perspective - it would only hurt the growing STEEM community. But it´s possible or even likely, that other developers will try to do so, which will result in a myspace vs facebook showdown where it´s difficult to say who will succeed at the present moment - most likely the platform with better developers behind... What I would like to hear, are "official" statement about the plans to integrate the existing coins/project from the Larimer-Universe.
Dan has powered down and he gets plenty of hate on Steemit. I could def see him supporting a Steem competitor on EOS.
Well, I wouldn´t necessarily conclude from the power down, that he is building a competitor - of course he may see himself as a father who needs to put more attention on his new child and leaving Steem to grow up by itself - which again would not mean for me, that he is abandoning Steem. I do wish though, that there would be more visible working together and common synergy effects between his coins/projects
I dont think he's building a competitor. He's building EOS so that other ppl can build dApps such as a Steem competitor.
Got it! Yes, this may happen, but I won´t worry about this yet, since STEEM itself is just in its infancy and there are many things still to come like SMT. Since EOS is the much broader product, I have the feeling, that most developers will first start to build other dApps and not immediately go for the "blockchain social media king" STEEM.
I agree. I think basic idea for blog sharing on blockchain is fo STEEM only
No one else can compete with it.
I did not know EOS was this good , time to do some research ! Btw is EOS better than ICX ?
i'm not familiar with ICX. Lemme know what you find out!
Anybody can build anything on EOS. Building it does not mean anything if nobody uses it. Steem has the first mover advantage and will have it for at least a year IMO - thats a long time on crypto space.
About BTS- again, anybody can build a competitor on EOS. And again the key is adoption. If the larimers had an intention to kill bts in favor of a competitor on EOS, why is @stan still pushing for adoption of BTS?
You're underestimating the size of the EOS distribution. When EOS launches it will have a much bigger market cap and a much larger number of users than Steem. If it has a native social dapp, and it has already been stated it will have a native DEX, then both Steem and Bitshares are done for.
Bitshares will most likely be migrated over to EOS where all BTS holders will be allocated replacement tokens.
How will that work? Will BTS abandon their blockchain and start running on EOS? That sounds like it would be tough to do.
yep, that's what I think will happen.
Everybody is talking about eos...
well, you can but you run a high risk of getting flagged and downvoted.
Even u are talking about it just by telling people not to talk about it ;-)
i know. I was curious if I was going to get flagged. I'm not afraid of the whale trolls.
Well written and informative, Thanks for sharing @ashe-oro
it is true eos is building better blockchain than steem & bts but imagine if steem & bts moved on to eos network once network got launched. that would be wonderful to watch.
i bet BTS will, I don't see any way that Steem will.
