Crypto’s most popular wallet service is getting a mobile app for secure login

Good news for MyEtherWallet users...looks like they will finally be making their own app. The new app will called MEW Connect, an iOS app that allows users to access their wallet through MyEtherWallet but without the need to type their private key. The best part...it will be a free app. The beta should be coming out in the next few days. This is good news considering that the site gets roughly 600,000 visitors per day.

Rumor has it, that if the beta goes well, the full app should launch sometime in September. An Android version is also in the works. The app will be using the QR code to replace the private key. This is a nice feature, since it is NOT recommended to sign in using your private key. Roughly $7 million USD have been stolen via phishing sites attacking the wallet. Apple's keychain services will work in conjunction to help encrypt the wallet.

You will need a master password to first set up. This will be backed up with a string of words similar to a Ledger. You will want to write these words down on a piece of paper and lock up that paper in a safe. This will be your backup just in case you lose your phone. The main app screen will also have a debit card style design so it looks like peer to peer payments will be possible. However, it looks like this feature won't be available right away. It will be something to look forward to in the future. The app will also let users buy crypto via a 3rd party link. Sounds like good to news to me.
