RE: My Everyday Makeup Routine
I'm really glad to see someone comment on that issue. I've been wondering for a while whether I should cross-post my video content (once I finally get some new ones ready...) between DTube and YouTube, so it's great to see someone note that it works for them to do so.
I bet DTube is also just about the only place you'll ever actually get crypto nerds to watch a video on basic makeup...
haha good point @nleseul!! I doubt many of them are looking for makeup tutorial's usually. ;)
Most of the creators on here don't add a YouTube link... so it's kind of a toss up. I do it for two reasons. First - people request it because sometimes they have issues playing Dtube and Dlive videos.
I also do it for long term storage. Dtube videos (not sure about Dlive) only store the video for about a month - where YouTube stores it indefinitely. That means that after about a month - my Dtube videos aren't playable or shareable. I preserve the content by also adding it to YouTube.
I hope that helps! Best of luck to you on creating video content... i look forward to seeing it! :)
Thanks! Yeah, if DTube doesn't store anything long-term, that makes it kind of terrible for a long-term content platform. Good to know.
That is a pattern I've kind of been sensing about the structure of STEEM in general... it seems like its algorithms really put the most value on short-term clickbait over content that remains relevant for years. But maybe DTube's current retention process has less to do with that bias and more to do with the site operators not yet having the massive storage capacity needed for permanent video hosting, I don't know.
