Reaching for the End
I'm nearing the end, so here's a progress update. I'm past the ugly phase and can see my way ahead to the end goal. Maybe I'll have it finished today, it's hard to say, there are many fine little areas to work on. At this point, I think you should have an idea of where I am going with this.
The "start" can be found in one of my previous blog posts.
For this painting I've restricted myself to four colours and that excludes white. I've worked with a bit more of a fatter medium for this painting as I'm experimenting with my mixes while I search for the optimal approach to executing the paintings with a minimum of fuss.
Stay tuned for the final work.

Four colors? Man this is incredible. You've got my follow, can't wait to see it finished.
Yes four colours, working like this is referred to a "limited palette". This is one of secrets of the Old Masters. The concept goes all the way back Classical Greece and a painter called Apelles. His works were so valued that even a couple of hundred years later the Romans were collecting them.
I'm a huge fan, in no small part because Theresa and also chose to roll with a limited color palette for our comic.
This painting is really striking, it feels so mythical to me.
The butt is so perfect too btw, you did a great job conveying the roundness/smoothness
Thank you very much Dr.Watson. =)
I like the limited use of colour in your comic. Have you see this Twitter profile? I think you might find it interesting.
Cinema Palettes
Color can affect us psychologically, often without us being aware, and can be used as a strong device in a story.

Thank you, and that twitter account is AWESOME. I just watched a video about how Blade Runner 2049 used color to tell the story, and this account JUST tweeted about the film.
I think this Twitter account floats many creative people's boats. =)
Wow perfect ass!
;-)
Beautifully executed, beautiful painting! Without white I wonder what was the light tone you've used here? In my experience I've actually never not had white on my pallet. Perhaps I'll have to give this a try!
Oh, I did use white, I'm just not counting it in the colours. In painting you do not count white as a colour because it is used purely for mixing and never pure itself, that is if you follow the classical methods of painting.
Oh I see, I thought that you meant you excluded white from your pallet and so when I was studying your piece I thought perhaps you used a very pale yellow. But I understand I don't list white as a color either, for example, if I do a triad I refer to it as 3 colors plus white. Lately I've only been using grumbacher red, phthalo blue, cadmium yellow & of course white.
Here's the color I thought you might have used if had excluded white. I may still try a piece without white.
You could exclude white depending upon the palette and final colour theme you desired. I never paint pure white onto a painting, unless I was using as an underpainting that I would later glaze. With this approach you can achieve a brilliance of colour that could never achieve out of the tube or mixed.
Beautiful. Love the pose of the model and your use of color and contrast is fantastic.
Thank you @setsunai, there is a bit more refinement in the colours to come yet.
Congratulations on this admirable work!
I love the detailed body! Especially the buttocks, the back and the feet!
Following and upvoted!
And I can't imagine how it should become any more "final".
Thank you Elaine! Follow for the final post and I'll show you what comes next.
Thanks for the follow and upvote! =)
This is just so beautiful <3
Thank you @shlomit!
Those flesh tones are superb!
Thank you @kaliptus, I've been putting more work in on them tonight.
Really well done. I love how thanks to the shadows you can see so many fine details like backmuscles and such. 👍
Cheers, I'm in the process of "polishing" these up, some of them will end up subtler.
