I think the problem is the terminology. When most people hear the word "child labor" the image that comes up first is most likely the photo used at the beginning of this post. When actually it would definitely give children the gumption they need in the world now. But instead they'd rather become YouTube creators.
I have a 12-year old student here in South Korea who wants to be a diplomat. She has proficiency in Japanese, English, and Chinese, she holds a computer certificate, she can even explain the ancient Korean dynasties in English!! I once suggested that she get some work experience now while she is young, so when she gets older she'll have some skin in the game instead of just a polished academia. Can't remember her response exactly but it was along the lines of 'no.'

However it might take physical manifestation, children have to grow up fast this next generation.
