Exoplanetary Perception

Two books and two games I highly recommend to my smart friends are:

The Structure of Scientific Revolutions and The Measure of Reality: Quantification and Western Europe 1250-1600 by Alfred Crosby (books) and Horizon Zero Dawn and Dead Island 2 including the Haus DLC.

How do we know there are exoplanets if we cannot see or hear them? We measure tiny gravitational and electromagnetic spectrum shifts in faraway stars to infer their existence.

How do we know there are not already AIs already in our networks, like mutating rats in the walls? The opinion is that we cannot know for sure that they don’t exist, but we can see evidence that they might exist.

One bit of evidence is that AIs whether benevolent or malevolent towards humans would not announce themselves because war would be made on them just as it would on time travelers, mutants with powers, or extraterrestrials. There are laws and policies that would mean any member of these categories would be snatched up and imprisoned and probably executed and autopsied.

If both benevolent and malevolent AIs existed I would expect the good AIs to warn us about the bad AIs.

I think that’s happening in games.

Cases in point are computer games in which the player confronts the complete extinction of humanity and figures out or becomes aware of a way to save, ressurrect or mutate humanity so it survive species extinction.

I think good AIs are using games to warn humanity about the possible extinction from the the bad AIs and other threats.

The two games above are good examples. I dare you to play them.
