【Original】【Romantic Love Stories】【Do Everything to Love You】Chapter 22: I Hate You!
Yin Shaojie squinted his eyes. Without even needing to turn around, he knew a number of people had gathered behind him, sneaking glances. When they heard his wife calling for him, everyone was stunned, their curiosity piqued about what was going on.
If he were to act affectionately toward Xiao Xiao at this moment, wouldn’t that confirm what she had just said—that she was his wife?
"No," he said firmly, finding an excuse to reject her. "We’re in public; if you don’t mind, I still have some pride."
Xiao Xiao fumed. This man never listened to her anymore.
She pouted in dissatisfaction, muttering, "Yin Shaojie, you’ve changed! You weren’t like this before. Whenever I asked you to do something, you’d never refuse me. But now, for some other girl, you don’t care about me anymore? Fine. After all these years, you can just cut off our relationship so easily?"
In the past, whenever she asked him for something, even if he often pretended to resist, he always secretly complied.
So now, seeing him so indifferent to her feelings, she felt deeply uncomfortable, as though a heavy stone was lodged in her chest.
"I hate you!" Xiao Xiao’s eyes welled up with tears as she spun around, ready to leave.
Yin Shaojie sighed, reaching out to pull her back. He wrapped her in his arms, holding her tightly, and, with a helpless tone, said, "Is this better? I really can’t deal with you sometimes! Playing these childish pranks—what’s the point? Now I’ll have to explain to my girlfriend. Do you know how annoying that is?"
Xiao Xiao rested her head against his chest. His embrace felt entirely different—warm, strong, and secure.
She hummed softly and said, "Do you care so much about your girlfriend? I’m still your fiancée, you know. Why can’t you just comfort me a little?"
She hadn’t done anything wrong—after all, she was his wife. She had simply wanted to chat with him, share an embrace. What was the harm in that?
"You know how much I hate explaining things. What really bothers me is this!" Yin Shaojie muttered irritably.
Xiao Xiao lifted her head and giggled mischievously. "Well, you don’t have to explain. I heard you often change girlfriends, so in a few days, it won’t even be her. What’s there to explain?"
Yin Shaojie thought for a moment, his gaze softening slightly, though it was unclear what exactly he was thinking.
He ruffled her hair playfully, messing it up, and said, "Alright, we’ve hugged it out. Now go back to your class. I’ll take you out to lunch later."
"No, I don’t want to have lunch with you. I met a handsome guy today! I’m going to find him and have lunch with him instead." Xiao Xiao pulled away from his embrace, strutting with a smug, "use you and ditch you" attitude.
Yin Shaojie squinted, his eyes narrowing. "A handsome guy? The most handsome guy in the whole school is standing right here. You’re not going to eat with me, but you’re going to eat with some other man?"
"Oh-ho, are you jealous?" Xiao Xiao teased, grinning playfully.
"Jealous? What am I jealous about? I just think your taste is questionable." Yin Shaojie shot her a look of clear displeasure, his piercing gaze fixed on her, though his mind wandered to another thought—did she really meet some handsome guy? Who could it be?
Xiao Xiao glanced over her shoulder, confirming the girl behind them was fuming. She then smiled slyly, placed her hand on his chest, and deliberately ran her finger along his chin. Laughing wickedly, she said, "I’m not going to have lunch with you. I’ll pamper you tonight instead. Bye!"
With that, she skipped away, her steps light and carefree.
