【Original】【Romantic Love Stories】【Do Everything to Love You】Chapter 14: The Girl Actually Disdains Him
Yin Shaojie wore an expression that suggested he was on the verge of losing his mind, but Xiao Xiao was utterly indifferent. She entered the restroom, and he could still hear her humming a cheerful little tune.
Once she finished washing up and changing clothes, she finally stepped out.
Despite his impatience, Yin Shaojie felt he couldn’t simply abandon her, so he drove her to school.
As they approached Shangde High School, a prestigious institution with a sprawling campus, he could already spot the ornate school gates from a distance. Several hundred meters away, Xiao Xiao suddenly called out, "Stop, stop, stop! Drop me off here."
Yin Shaojie had no choice but to stop the car, bewildered. "The school is still far off. Why do you want to get out here?"
Xiao Xiao, already out of the car, adjusted the strap of her backpack and flashed him a bright smile. "I’m not going in with you. I’d be too much of a spectacle. I prefer to keep a low profile. Bye now, you go ahead. I’ll grab some breakfast on the way."
"Suit yourself," Yin Shaojie said nonchalantly. He was used to girls vying to ride in his car and make an entrance, but here was a girl who seemed to be rejecting the attention. It was puzzling, yet oddly amusing.
He drove off, leaving her standing alone.
Xiao Xiao glanced around and spotted a cake shop. The mouthwatering aroma wafted over, and before she knew it, she found herself walking inside without hesitation.
The display case was filled with an array of delectable pastries. Her mouth watered as she admired them, tempted to buy several, but she couldn’t indulge in all of them. After all, she hadn’t exchanged her foreign currency yet, and the only money she had was what she had borrowed from Yin Shaojie earlier.
The cakes weren’t exactly cheap—each slice cost twenty to thirty yuan—but the crowd of customers suggested they were worth the price. The smell was enough to make her salivate, and she nearly pressed her face to the glass.
Finally, she selected her favorite strawberry cake and ordered a cup of milk tea with a frothy milk cap.
"I’ll have this one," she said, pointing at the last piece of strawberry cake.
The server came over, took the cake, and placed it into a small box, ready for packaging.
Xiao Xiao reached out to take it, but the server apologetically said, "Sorry, that’s the last piece. It’s already been purchased. Perhaps you’d like to choose something else?"
Xiao Xiao puffed out her cheeks, her face falling in frustration. She had spent so long deciding, only for the cake to be taken by someone else.
"Who bought it? I saw it first!" she demanded.
The server, looking slightly awkward, pointed to a young man standing at the cashier. "It’s him. He already paid for it, so I’m really sorry. We do have matcha and mango cakes that are quite popular. Would you like to try one of those instead?"
"No, thank you!" Xiao Xiao refused curtly. She marched over to the young man, who was now standing by the counter, and tapped him on the shoulder. When she saw him, she was taken aback by how tall he was—probably around 1.8 meters. But having spent time abroad, she wasn’t particularly impressed by such heights.
"Excuse me, could you let me have that strawberry cake?" she asked.
Xiao Xiao could be a little stubborn. Once she set her sights on something, she didn’t want to settle for anything else. She was determined to get what she wanted.
To her surprise, the young man turned around, revealing an incredibly handsome face. His features were strikingly elegant, and there was a calm refinement in his demeanor. His eyes, sharp and intelligent, immediately gave off the impression of a high-achieving scholar.
This was exactly her type.
"Hello, is there something I can help you with?" Lu Yichen asked, his voice smooth and deep, with a magnetic quality that would make any woman’s heart flutter. His tone alone could send a shiver down one’s spine.
