Congratulations to Nigerians!
The Nigerian senior National football team a few minutes ago progressed to the semi-final stage of the Confederation of African Football Nations Cup. The match which was the second quarterfinal match of the competition was played against the Bafabafana National football team of South Africa.
The match was a bit cagey in the first opening minutes with each team being wary of committing men forward and make a mistake. However, the game came alive around 28th minutes when Nigerian Chukwuezie, a 20-year-old Villareal football club player made a kamikaze run into the opposition's 18-yard box and latch on to a cross from Arsenal's Alex Iwobi after some beautiful legwork from the latter.
The match did not come alive again until the 70th minute of the second half when a supposedly offside goal was awarded to the South Africans after a prolonged Video Assistant Referee analysis. Nigerian team took the lead again deservedly around 86th minutes with a close-range tap-in by Udinese FC's Troos Ekong after a corner kick from Simeone.
Overall, it was a good show of talents by the two giants of African football and a big win for the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Congratulations!
