Zimbabwe Lithium and mineral statistics

in #zimbabwe2 years ago

[Bikida] mine and Arcadian mine are Chinese owned with the largest lithium disposals in Zimbabwe. Over 10 million metric tonnes in one of them alone.

Zimbabwe, Mali, DRC, Namibia and Ghana have largest supplies.

AFRICA owns 30% of the world's minerals, 40% of gold, 90% of chromium, platinum. Largest reserve of cobalt, platinum, diamonds.

In Zimbabwe mining is worth $12 billion of $30 billion gdp means it is 40% of exports, 11% of gdp.

Before there were 1 million Artisnal miners (illegal small scale miners) selling to Chinese and illegally smuggled $2 billion yearly. Government banned export of raw lithium ore and now Chinese companies bought many mines in Africa. Export control act exempted legal mining companies. Y u cobalt, sinomine cobalt, Chang sheng lithium group were among them.

Zimbabwe and other African countries must have an OPEC like cartel in minerals to control the global prices and supplies.

What keeps Zimbabwe and many African countries in this exploitative inviting state is hyperinflation, corruption, bad culture, nepotism, politicizing and securitising resources.
