Zappl test, because I couldn't just write a short post on steemit or busy.org, right?

in #zappl7 years ago

Here I am making a tiny post on zappl for the first time and thinking to myself, it sure is swell this site exists to stop me from typing a short post right into steemit, busy.org, eSteem or chainbb? Thank God for character limited forms!!!

Sort:

Hahahahaha! Thank you for choosing to use @zappl because I had to read the post from you till the end.

This ended quite early.

I showed serious post length self restraint, well I didn't but those darn javascript character counting codes kept me from going full Post on this! Wow!

Am I the only one who doesn't get why we like this but we don't like short steemit posts, and the big secret being these just ARE short steemit posts?

To be honest, I have signed up for @zappl and have done a test post as well. I do not like it. Especially because the Zaps appear on my Steemit blog. I do not want short posts to appear on my blog.

I will strongly suggest, in a big post perhaps, to shift @zappl, @dmania, @dtube, @steepshot etc to SMTs and have nothing to do with Steemit blog. Independently, I would love each one of them but not like present.

There you go. You have a partner who dislikes it.

I knew I could count on one of my oldest connections from my earliest days on this platform to make sense out of my nonsense.

I agree with you, because as it stands, this thing serves no additional purpose whatsoever and as it seems their site is largely unfinished or broken or both on many features and pages there as well. Including finding any trace of the zap I just sent, even with browser cache cleared and reloading the site but it shows up HERE :D I'll just keep on posting HERE then :D Now and then I might even blasphemy and do a short post with NO PICTURE! OMG, I know, it's terrible, try to keep me from making this mistake please!

Hahahahaha! As you clearly said, the thing is not a very good independent platform and additionally, it interferes with our Steemit blogs by publishing short posts right on our blog feeds.

I don't know about others but this might not be acceptable for me. I know it is extremely inappropriate for people to find out that @sircork has published a very short post.

And No! Please don't do that.

haha, somehow I think it took us all these comments that won't even fit in a zap, for you to tell me I usually talk too much :P

:)

Hahahaha! That's not what I was thinking of though. Look, our comments are longer than a standard Zap (which is hard to find and is found only on our blog, which is not the way I would like it to be).

I don't know who talks more between us two but the competition is tough. Having said that, I plan never to go back on Zappl unless they dissociate from Steemit blog and rely entirely upon their own platform.

What do you think?

By the way, sorry my votes are zero cents. I am all delegated out to @YouAreHOPE right now. Working on that, so I can get back enough to at least have a slider but for now, I need to self power that account a bit.

I don't see much need to head back over there either, for pretty much all the reasons you covered so well.

Beers, coffee, or whiskey would not be boring table mates for you and I, my friend.

Steemit could filter any and all of those services, including Busy, out so only what is posted on Steemit appears. However, I like that I can use the other services and have them aggregated on my Steemit blog.

A good future feature for Steemit might be to allow users to choose what, if any, of the other services appear on their Steemit blog. That would take a whole lot more mature design than is currently available.

I'd have to go double check, but I am not sure they can filter. I haven't looked closely at the record JSON for a post/comment submission to the block chain, but unless they expressly identify the source app, then no they can't tell where a post was made. They probably do, but it is VERY possible the records dont track this, since they pretty much all have to submit the same JSON to save a record. I could look, but i just woke up and cant be bothered right now :D

Yes very short...

You have succeeded, you've said nothing!
Or to be more precise, not explained what Zappl is, why use it, or what the benefit is of using a crossposting service. :-)

Did I succeed in sounding snarky about its need to exist? :D Because I, for the life of me, can't figure out why everybody spent the last two years calling short posts "shit posts" but we love that this site just basically character limits the input form and yet, here I am back on steemit to actually manage it.

I don't GET the benefit :D

LOL
TBH The argument for a microblogging service is totally floored anyway. If someone only wants their posts to be 140 characters long or they're heavily into S&M and create a Haiku every few hours, then that's what they can limit themselves to posting you don't need a limit.
Some of us though know that small wars have started over suppression of expression. :-D

Just little bitty wars. I mean, you know, I'm not skeered. Oh wait, is that bernie heading this way? Yep, gotta jet, catch ya later! :D :D :D

It's just so silly :D

Short post, but express lots...

This person understands me :D

lol. I want to read the comments here but I can't.

On zappl? Hell, I couldn't even find my original post over there! They work pretty well on steemit though. Hmmmm, if only you could just put short posts on steemit! :D

Ahaha. Now, why can't we post short message in steemit. Such a tragedy.:P

I know, it's horrible, how could this even be so impossible! :D

You can only read comments made on zappl

But the posts go everywhere, creating comment trees in multiple locations? Did you even think this through from a user experience perspective?

Hi Corky. Been a while bud... hope all is well :)

It's 50% awesome or better. The odds of more awesome seem to be in my favor, but time will tell.

Come check out my new project and discord. Link in the other comment I left you on your post a few min ago.

Do I sense some sarcasm?

From me? hahah, yep. Of course!

LOL :D @sircork how do you feel about a potential East Coast Steemit Meetup? There are a lot of people demanding one in the marlyand/DC/NY area and I hear you are in Virginia and I'm wondering your thoughts!

I think that is a fantastic idea and I would go. However, there are two reasons why Im probably not the guy to plan it or host it. One, Im way down in Richmond, and it would be better located up in the DC/NoVA/SoMD areas and two, im super busy with my company and on-the-chain projects already and bonus reason, I think YouAreHOPE, my project, should not get too involved in anything that can in anyway be reflected as "political" or "controversial" and meetups are not those things, but can potentially be perceived by people in many ways.

But Id totally come to one!

Yeah I didn't want to pressure you into making it happen, however do you think you would be able to make it to one in your area? I was talking to the head of @EastCoastSteem, @chelsea88, and she says the Virginia/West Virginia area could work! You should consider talking to her to see what day would work for everybody (: I would love to see more community engagement here in the USA on Steemit!

So a new community is @steemusa and Im in there and all this needs to tie together. :D I might could pull something off, but my life is complicated, as I just moved here two weeks ago. Not familiar with richmond, no connections and i live in an extended stay hotel while I house hunt (move for the company I a partner in)

I know the extended stay grind, I hope yours is nicer than mine was LOL where did you move from? And also doesn’t @dan live in Virginia?

I dont know about @dan, I moved from North Carolina. This hotel and all the ExStayAms Ive stayed in over the years have always been okay for me? No bugs, clean rooms and nice people.

Calling @originalworks :)
