John see's Dave's gun in his face. His mind went blank for a moment from the shock of Dave pointing his gun at him.
John, after regaining his composure, tells Dave: " Are you really going to point that at me? NOW OF ALL TIMES? Put the fucking gun down Dave."

Dave knew at that moment, that John wasn't the man he once knew.
He had lost his friend in that moment. His partner in crime. Their brotherhood had fallen. Dave lowered the gun. He knew it from that point that this plan probably didn't involve him in Candice's eyes and that John had been taken over by her charm.

John just wanted the plan to go off without a hitch. He didn't understand why Dave was losing his cool. He had never seen the man so agitated.
