Yusaymon Inspiration Month- Still working to help a very talented young man in a very rough situation!
The Minnow Support Project is putting out a call to support one highly creative minnow in a very tough circumstance: @yusaymon

A month ago, InquiringTimes began a celebration of all things Yusaymon with his article about Yusaymon Appreciation Month. We've decided to rename it Yusaymon Inspiration Month because this man is such an inspiration to many people!
Yusaymon is a prolific artist. When I decided to interview him, I wanted to get to know his work beforehand. I began to delve into his blog to find out what motivates him - how he creates, when he creates, why he creates. Yusaymon posts up to five times a day, in various formats. He might post a poem, translated from spanish, then a video recording of a karaoke song or a dance solo, some collaborative effort with other artists on music or writing, and a video detailing his artistic process in the same day.

If you want to go straight to the source, Yusaymon's work can be found on his youtube video channel and his soundcloud music channel. He has entered graphic arts and design contests, attempted anime and cartoon illustrations, entered rap battles, created gifs, logos and banners, drawn imaginary art based on television shows or movie characters, and attempted vocal covers. One of my favorites is when he does ad hoc videos of his day, for example in the video "Searching for Dragon Fruit".

Yusaymon creates his art and has certain photos and videos which he has posted showing his creative process, (which often including lots of dirt, fruit skin, leaves and bark), so most of my questions centered on this. @torico sits down for an interview with him:
how did you learn to paint/draw?
I´m drawing since I was a little kid, practicing every weekend or days. in the Design Institute I learn other things with 19 years old.
did you have any teachers or friends who helped you?
I met amazing artists and teachers that help me a lot.
who are your favorite artists (outside of steemit?)
Marilyn Manson Art.
where do you find your ideas for art?
reading some books and thinking about my experiences of life.
what things influence you the most?
The Nature and the Dark things.
what is your process to create a piece, and how long does this take? what are the different materials that you use in your paint? just water and plants, or do you use eggs, sand, dirt? what do you use to create on - paper, canvas, vellum? what do you use to put over your art to preserve the work? (clear coat, plastic?) if money was not an issue, what medium would you use/prefer? (oil, acrylic, watercolor?)
Yusaymon; Liliana Vess; Trial by Comics contest
I rest for minutes, listening always music, I drink coffee and walking around thinking random ideas mostly in the nights / depends of the type of Art sometimes 4 hours, 2 days or 5 minutes.
soak, water, gouache, tempera, sand, dirt, eggs, pencil, crayons or pen.
Cardboards or fabriano paper. most of the time
I almost never keep anything always ends up in the trash, if I keep it is for someone, just the image remains in the blockchain.
If I have more money I will use acrylic and a canvas!!
Yusaymon; TORTUBOLO - Trial by Comics contest
how long have you been in the dominican republic?
I´ve been here for 5 months
did you leave for political unrest or another reason?
political problems, protests, there was no public transport to go to work, insecurity and many other things I gathered money with the hope of traveling here
I want to bring your attention back to the answer for question nine;
"I almost never keep anything always ends up in the trash"
That's correct. All of those beautiful gorgeous paintings you see plastered in this and other posts get thrown away, because he doesn't have enough money to buy canvas and paint, or use a finishing agent to preserve them. Luckily for us his work will be preserved on the blockchain, as a type of living portfolio.
Kerlund74 also did a short interview with Yusaymon. Here's an excerpt from her post: When did you start working as an artist/digital designer? And why? What is your greatest source of inspiration? What is you favorite kind of subject? What is hardest/easiest to create? What technique do you prefer: by hand or digital? And why? What keeps you motivated and helps your creativity? Something more that you would like to add? The child that you starve today,

~ 8 years ago I started to work in different advertising agency as Graphic Designer. All my life, I wish to earn my living making Art.
~ My life, nature and music
~ It´s difficult for me to create simple things or minimalist vibe, I try to be balanced with some types of art. for me it´s easy create abstract art and difficult textures.
~ I prefer Both but I work more by hand cause I don´t have the digital Toys (Tablets and other hardware), only illustrator and Photoshop.
~ The financial freedom and travels.
~ I want you to know that if I can get better supplements or hardware maybe a tablet or other stuff I will give my best, and if I do not have it will be the same.

will not grow your food tomorrow.
The man you put on the street today,
will steal from you tomorrow.
The student that you won’t teach today,
will not mend your wounds tomorrow.
The profits that you made today,
will create your loss tomorrow.
Your police who locked me up today,
will lock you up tomorrow.
Your religion that preaches love today,
will teach you hate tomorrow.
The master who you serve today,
will have you killed tomorrow.
The life you had until today,
was made of my tomorrow.
All I’ve learned, from all my days,
from all my joy and sorrow,
If I don’t care for you today,
Then who will care for me tomorrow?

Steem Fest 2 runs from November 01st until November 5th in Lisbon, Portugal. The organizers will be curating their space with art created by individual artists, as well as the collaborative works created on the Steemit platform. Yusaymon created an audio visual piece for this event called "Nothingness", wherein he explores the ability to create and explore his art with nothing but a little dirt and water and pieces of bark. He uses whatever is at hand to invent something miraculous out of what others would say is practically "nothing". Exploring ideas, I ended up imagining while I meditated my house in the middle of the forest and I saw it so clear made with wood, a room at the top was of pure trunks and I´m resting on a bed seeing a beautiful woman sitting at a table. excerpt from Yusaymon's post on Nothingness
Yusaymon; "Cabaret" - Talents Challenge contest
I love this montage of images and clues into the artists perception of his world - art, nature, color, texture, self, home, the day, the night. At times erratic, other times bent and beautiful, much like Yusaymon himself.
Imagination is the creative ability to form images, sounds, ideas, and expressions that illicit emotional responses in the mind. Art is an imaginative response to and expression of culture - how we view our world. What would our world be without art? A grey dull place with little enjoyment. We need art to save our souls from drying up into decay.

This post is an exploration of art, of the imagination and inspiration that goes into creation. It is also meant as a benefit for a wonderful artist who is caught in an economic downwards spiral. Please donate whatever you can. If nothing else, please upvote and resteem this post to spread the word, and the inspiration!
