Well, I strongly disagree that there aren't myriads of folks steered towards extremist content by Youtube's algorithms. As you point out, folks are steered towards enemedia content, which I and many consider extremist, conspiracy theory laden radicalization to advocate and promulgate war and anarchy which is abundantly revealed across the ME today. Folks that understand the owners of corporations like CNN and corrupt 'intelligence' agencies like the CIA cooperate to create terrorist organizations like ISIS, and then to conceal that fact, and how that terror is used to destroy nations and peoples for the aggrandizement of banksters are being victimized exactly in the way Mozilla reports, albeit that Mozilla is part of that very mechanism seeking to further that mission with this initiative.

You correctly identify the Mozilla initiative to be aimed at the wrong problem, but misstate that there is no problem.

I advocate for taking Mozilla up on it's offer, not to indicate independent voices and researchers as the problem, but the very enemedia including Mozilla that have undertaken this initiative as the problem. It's a chance to point the weapon aimed at free speech right at propaganda and censorship.

The decentralization of technology is increasingly making it possible to turn surveillance, propaganda, and censorship technology right back on the police states and technocrats trying to use it to oppress and disenfranchise free, reasonable people globally.

We see that cameras being more available and less expensive has enabled ordinary folks to use them to improve their security, rather than being only the tools of institutional actors. Facial recognition has but recently begun to be deployed by surveillance and police states, yet already has been made available to the public by whom it will be used to identify and hold accountable covert agents and criminals (but I repeat myself).

This move by Mozilla reveals their fundamental failure to grasp that technological advance always increases the power of individuals over institutions, and emphasizes the truth of the principle that when your enemy makes mistakes, don't stop them.

Use them.
