Disc Golf Follow Flight - Video Graphics Demo
Here's a demo of the Disc Golf flight tracking technique seen on professional disc golf videos.
It is a pretty easy effect to pull off, though it would be slightly more difficult with a handheld camera. I used a software called Adobe After Effects to track the disc and then copied and pasted the motion tracking data to a 2D null object.
From there I used the 'Write On' effect to animate the brush , parenting the brush position to the position of the null object. To create the electrical energy effect on the 'Flight Tracker' text, I used a free plugin called 'Saber' from VFX legend Andrew Kramer.
My disc golf shot flexed back a little at the end and landed about 40-45 feet to the left of the pin. I missed the birdie putt. Hopefully I can get a shot with a better camera and angle soon, so I can test the effect further.
