My story

in #yourstory3 years ago (edited)

Mummy had never really been around because she was busy at the office usually on night shifts, it was daddy's presence that we felt more.It was on the note that he had to travel to carry out some pending business transactions, he lined us up from the biggest to the smallest and boy! was I happy. He told us he wouldn't be back for the day I was sad and happy it was a mix of emotions but i couldn't help it I had just turned 12 and I was aching for more responsibility.
The little ones on the other hand started to brawl and cry he wouldn't be home with us and it was a weekend, he had earlier promised Peter that they would play trains and lacey that they would play pirates and with this we gave us chocolates to pacify us and that worked nicely for I had craved chocolates the day before and daddy charged me to look after my siblings which I took on with vigor, because at 12 I was aching for the recognition of a growing Tween.
I was so pumped up and excited even ready to exercise my new given authority and like a new toy I couldn't wait to try it on. So Daddy left the Morning of Saturday and the day began, mummy 'did it so well so I could as well' I thought it couldn't be that hard I'd seen her a hundred times. And as I got ready to take care of my siblings, I went into mummy's closet and took out her apron so I would fit nicely into the role as I stood in front of the mirror admiring myself my brother Peter started to cry, at first I thought he Just wanted the attention but then I got closer and I could tell he wanted to use the bathroom, I took him there but I couldn't make him sit still to take a dump, he just kept jumping around, it was until I peeped into the toilet that the head of a rat popped up and my was i scared.
Peter kept jumping around but I had seen mummy several times calm us down but then I couldn't help it, I didn't kill the rat i just kept on screaming until it ran away, after this it took me 10 mins a lot of work to get him to sit still.
The clock struck 12pm and it signified lunch time, Dad wasn't home yet, so I made my way to the kitchen, there was pots and pans everywhere but I couldn't use the gas because mummy said I'd have to grow two inches more, lacey was hungry so I made a sandwich from the bread and peanut butter we had In the fridge it was and might I add it was one of the best I had ever made.
The clock struck 4pm and Dad was home, oh how relived I felt for then I understood that I had a lot of growing up to do.

Every home needs a mum😔

It's really sad when a mother is often not around. I just want to ask, does the mother come home in the morning? because if she comes home, of course she works on Night Shift, so she needs a break. But the kids are very playful and noisy at day! Poor mother, and pity you
there is no one to guide you.
