What is XVG (Verge) and Why is Interesting?
Verge Currency is a cryptocurrency designed for everyday use. It improves upon the original Bitcoin blockchain and aims to fulfill its initial purpose of providing individuals and businesses with a fast, efficient and decentralized way of making direct transactions while maintaining personal privacy.
One of the reasons why are they so popular (in the last few days) is the fact that PornHub, Brazzers, and some other sites accepted this cryptocurrency as a standard currency for buying porn videos; it's very interesting because we are all witnessing the problem with Facebook, Evernote etc. data leak - can you imagine the consequences, if someone hacks Pornhub and share IPs, locations and other data with a world? It won't be cool... So Verge is here to hide your IP and everything else, similar to TOR.
Verge Currency makes it possible to engage in direct transactions quickly, efficiently and privately. With Verge Currency, businesses and individuals have flexible options for sending and receiving payments. With the flip of a switch, they offer helpful integrations and tools that enable them to handle large-scale transactions between merchants and small-scale private payments.
Verge Currency was not pre-mined (I hope that's true). The development team and contributors purchase the coins on the open market like anyone else. A pre-mine is a funding mechanism, whereby the developers of a currency allocate a certain amount to go to a particular address before releasing it to the public. Since there was no pre-mine or ICO, the team does not hold a significant amount of coins to affect the coin distribution or total circulation.
The maximum supply is capped at 16.5 billion XVG. Verge Currency is designed this way on purpose to allow for convenient payment amounts in everyday use. As opposed to Bitcoin, you would not have pay with 0.00004 BTC, for example. Another reason is to reduce the risk of market manipulation by making it harder to control a big portion of the total supply.
In my opinion, the biggest problem with this coin is the ''marketing team'' behind the whole project; for example, they made a terrible video with all footage from Pixabay (a website for amateur movie makers and photographs with 100% free footage, photos, and illustrations), the video has no sense and it's very strange that you can't pay few hundred dollars for a solid video, if you already have a great IT team to make something like this. You can watch the video, here:
As a designer, I must say that their logo is very bad; and the whole visual is not very professional, but they have a good website, so that's important.
It's also possible to mine this coin, so if you are interested in that, this is the great video that can help you;
