Xiaomi removes a widely used feature from its smartphones.

For Xiaomi customers, who are suddenly without one of their smartphone's most useful features, this is a cold shower.
To comply with regulations, Xiaomi has disabled the feature that let users play YouTube videos in the background. There's only one step from there to believing that Google is the original.
On March 7, Xiaomi smartphone owners learned the unfortunate news through a message sent on the "Mi Fans Home" Telegram channel. Thus, the company notifies its followers that the toolbox's "Play the sound of the video with the screen off" feature is no longer accessible. The gaming toolbox's "Turn off screen" feature will also go with the most recent version.
These capabilities were well-liked by brand owners when they were first introduced with MIUI 12, especially for watching YouTube videos with the screen off. The firm does not say this, but this is most likely where it gets stuck. In fact, Google charges €12.99 for this function as part of its YouTube Premium subscription. The American behemoth, which had to politely remind Xiaomi of this, should not have been delighted that millions of consumers might benefit from this option for free.

Learn about the two incredibly useful new features of the Android phone app.

Both the new HyperOS interface and MIUI are used by the relevant devices. The list of impacted models is shared by the brand. Considering the scope of this decision, the likelihood of you becoming lost if you own a Xiaomi phone is extremely low. All MIUI 12 and later models appear to be impacted, in fact. The only way to prevent this—which we do not advise—is to refrain from updating your device. The list of impacted models is provided below.
