I know there are still people that rely on X (Twitter) for social causes and breaking news stories.

I can't stress enough how degraded it has become under Elon Musk for those use cases. This is a perfect example. It is worse than literally checking anything else. This is something you'd see on 4Chan.

I remember this sort of stuff happening back when the Boston Marathon bombing occurred. Redditors pinned the attack on a missing Brown University student of Indian descent. He actually had committed suicide by drowning, but his body would not be discovered till after the suspects were in custody.
