Reflections on hot weather 酷熱反思 무더위의 반향

The weather is hotter and hotter everyday, most of the people won't go oit if it's unnecessary. I began to doubt if people can live without air-conditioned. the hot weather has remind me a famous legend called "Yi shot down the suns".

In ancient China, people believed that there were ten suns that appeared in turn in the sky during the Chinese ten-day week. Each day the ten suns would travel with their mother, the goddess Xi He, to the Valley of the Light in the East. There, Xi He would wash her children in the lake and put them in the branches of an enormous mulberry tree called fu-sang. From the tree, only one sun would move off into the sky for a journey of one day, to reach the mount Yen-Tzu in the Far West.

Tired of this routine, the ten suns decided to appear all together. The combined heat made the life on the Earth unbearable.

To prevent the destruction of the Earth, the emperor Yao asked Di Jun, the father of the ten suns, to persuade his children to appear one at a time.They would not listen to him, so Di Jun sent the archer, Yi, armed with a magic bow and ten arrows to frighten the disobedient suns. However, Yi shot nine suns, only the Sun that we see today remained in the sky.

Di Jun was so angry for the death of nine of his children that he condemned Yi to live as an ordinary mortal in the earth. That’s the legend of Yi Shot Down the Suns . Although Yi got punished because of his behavior, people will always be grateful of him.

Of course we don't have ten suns on our sky, also Yi is not here. but we should understand that why the weather is hotter and hotter, it's because we ignored our behavior is affecting the earth's climate. Pollution of the exhaust emissions and the increasing use of air-conditioning so that the global warming. If we don't face up to the problems , even if Yi is really here but still can't change our sad ending of future.

날씨가 점점 더워지다 보니 대부분 특별한 일이 없는 한 외출을 하지 않습니다. 과연 사람들이 에어컨 없이 살수나 있을까요? 이렇게나 날씨가 더우면 저는 고대 중국의 유명한 전설인 “예(羿)씨가 해들을 쏴 버리다”라는 이야기를 떠올리곤 하는데, 옛날엔 10명의 해가 있어 열흘간 교대로 나타났다는 이야기입니다.

어머니이자 여신(女神)인 희화(羲和)는 10명의 해들과 함께 동쪽에 있는 빛의 계곡으로 여행을 했는데, 그곳에는 큰 호수가 있어 아이들을 커다란 뽕나무 가지에 놓은 채 목욕을 시켜주곤 하였습니다. 하지만 하루에 오직 한 명의 해만이 나무에서 벗어나 하늘을 날아오르며 서쪽 멀리 일원산(日元山)에 도착할 수 있었습니다.

결국 열 명의 해는 이런 반복에 지친 나머지 다 함께 날아 오르기로 결심하였습니다. 그러다 보니 지구상의 생명체들은 합쳐진 열기를 참을 수가 없었습니다. 그러자 요(尧) 황제는 지구의 파괴를 막기 위해 10명의 해들의 아버지인 제후(帝俊)에게 아이들이 한 번에 한 명씩만 나타나도록 설득하게 했습니다.

하지만 아이들이 말을 듣지 않자, 아버지인 제후(帝俊)는 마법의 활과 열 개의 화살로 무장한 궁수 예(羿)씨를 보내 반항하는 아이들에게 겁만 좀 주게 했습니다. 하지만 예(羿)씨는 9발의 활로 9명의 아이들을 쏴 죽여버렸고, 한 명의 해만 살아남아 오늘날까지 남아있게 된 것입니다. 제후(帝俊)는 아홉 아이들의 죽음에 너무 화가 난 나머지 예(羿)씨를 지구에 살고 있는 보통 사람들의 수명만큼만 살게 해버렸습니다. 이 이야기가 바로 예(羿)씨가 해들을 쏴 버린 전설입니다. 비록 예(羿)씨는 그의 행동으로 벌을 받고 말았지만, 사람들은 그에게 언제나 고마워 할 것입니다.

물론, 오늘날엔 10개의 해도 없고, 예(羿)씨 또한 이 세상에 없습니다. 그런데 우리는 왜 자꾸 날씨가 더워지고 있는지 이해해야만 하는데, 그 이유는 바로 우리가 지구의 기후에 영향을 미치고 있다는 사실을 무시하고 있기 때문입니다. 배기가스 배출 따른 오염과 에어컨 사용의 증가로 지구 온난화는 지속되고 있습니다. 우리가 이 문제를 받아들이지 않는다면 예(羿)씨가 정말 살아 있더라도 우리는 미래의 슬픈 결말을 바꾸지 못할 것입니다.

每天天氣越來越熱，如果沒有必要，絕大多數人不會外岀。我開始懷疑人們是否可以沒有空調的生活。炎熱的天氣讓我想起了一個名叫“后羿射日”的著名傳奇。

在中國古代，人們相信十天為一周，有十個太陽在天空中輪流出現。每天，十個太陽都會和他們的母親，女神羲和一起旅行到東方的曙之谷。在那裡，羲和將在湖里幫她的孩子洗澡，再把他們放在一個叫扶桑的巨大桑樹的樹枝上。從樹上，只有一個太陽將一天之內在天空向西面移動，最後抵達西方遙遠的日元山。

十個太陽認為這循環太無趣，於是決定一起出現在天空。太陽們一起結合的熱量得生靈塗炭。為了防止地球上的生命被破壞，皇帝堯請求十個太陽的父親帝俊，勸他的孩子一次只出現一個。帝俊知道孩子不會聽他的話，所以找來了弓箭手後羿送給他一把魔法弓和十個箭頭來嚇唬不順從的太陽。然而，後羿把九個太陽都射死了，只留了一個太陽在天空。帝俊對九個孩子的死亡感到非常生氣，他惩罰後羿在地球上作為普通的凡人生活。這就是後羿射日的傳說。雖然羿因為他的行為而受到懲罰，但人們永遠都會感激他。

當然我們天上沒有十個太陽，而且羿也不在這裡。但是我們應該明白為什麼天氣越來越熱，這是因為我們忽視了我們正在影響地球的氣候的行為。污染廢氣排放和越來越多的空調使用，使全球變暖。如果我們不面對這些問題，即使羿真的在這裡，但仍然不能改變我們對未來的悲傷結局。
