From my experience: Techniques to develop your thesis and not die trying.
A few days ago I had the opportunity to present my thesis, which I believe was one of the most important works for the fulfillment of my goals. That day was full of many emotions and nervousness, but that resulted in a huge satisfaction in my life.
Thinking about the whole process, from the beginning of choosing the topic on which I would develop my thesis until the presentation, I decided to give you some tips that can help all those students of this community who are close to developing their thesis. It is a long way and for some something tedious and full of complications, but friends, for this we have been preparing throughout our career, and when it comes to the thesis, it is our time to demonstrate everything we have learned to solve problems or even more, develop new techniques or give continuity to an important investigation.
As I said before, the process of developing a thesis can be tedious for many. We should not only think about the subject, we should also think about how we are going to approach it, expect the acceptance of it by the university. In addition to this we think and we are filled with intrigue with the time that will take us to finish it or even we panic with thinking about the many hours we must devote to get approximately 100 pages of development (this will depend on the subject). The fact of thinking about all this because of the anxiety that generates us, we stop and we can not move forward.
That is why we should relax and think about enjoying what will be our last effort, and although it will not be as simple as it seems here I leave these tips to make it easier for you and not die in the attempt to develop your thesis.
Choose the theme:
Think about what you like, and I do not mean everyday things. Think about which theme of your career you like most and with which you feel safe, so that at the time of developing you have the knowledge you need and know in which direction you should move. For many this is the most difficult part, especially because it is the thesis (I was thinking about my subject for several months). You have to know that you are going to write a lot, and with the simple fact that the topic is linked to your interests, you have most of the work done. Do not let the tutors or thesis directors impose the topic you must develop (listen to their advice if it is valid), remember that it must be something that you are passionate about, so that when you explain it the words flow easily and you can enjoy fully of your thesis.
Choose a good tutor or thesis director.
This person is the one who will accompany you all the way to the development of your thesis, therefore you must choose a person who is not only prepared on the topic you are going to develop, it should also be someone you feel comfortable with, take Well, you can express yourself easily and maintain the common interest in the development of your thesis. Your tutor more than that, will also be an accomplice and an ally when developing your thesis, therefore get someone to make the best out of you. On the other hand, if you feel that the tutor wants to impose his ideas, that he does not listen to you, does not take your proposals into account, then it is better to change it to avoid a bitter drink every time you have to meet him.
Try to set yourself short goals.
As we know, the thesis is a long process and just thinking about the time that we should devote to it, we are filled with anxiety. Therefore, by setting short goals we can better organize our ideas, disarming the thesis in chapters or parts can take one step at a time, without overloading information and tasks to develop. In this way we manage to focus on the subject, and overlook thoughts that have nothing to do with the development of our objectives.
Always have an agenda at hand.
Usually when we sit down to write the thesis, we feel that the hours and days go by quickly, with an agenda you will not only know what day you are on, you will also know what are the points that you should try and fix in your thesis. In this way, when you meet with your thesis tutor, you will know what topics will be addressed in each meeting and you can keep track of the days for the development of the chapters, until the final delivery.
Last but not least, remember to get enough rest.
Even if you do not believe it and it seems like something out of the question, being able to rest and get enough sleep is a key factor for the development of your thesis. When you manage to rest, the moments of reading and writing will be much more effective, than when you do not, because your brain will be better focused on what you are doing. Rest will allow you to concentrate better on what you do, avoiding distractions. Therefore, take advantage of the nights to sleep and relax your brain, for when you wake up you are ready to develop your ideas better.
These are just some tips that I can mention and that can help you in the development of your thesis. Of course, there are many more techniques apart from these, I only mention some that helped me, in the development of my thesis. Everyone knows how to plan when it comes time to do your thesis.
Of something if I am sure, by many techniques that you use, there will be moments when you will feel overwhelmed and tired of the thesis, you will cry and want to desist from it. But as the days go by, and you manage to develop each objective, you will feel with pride each one of the steps that you have been accomplishing, and how happy and full of satisfaction it is to arrive at the end of the thesis.
Without a doubt it is one of the most important moments in our lives, so let's enjoy it to the fullest.
I hope that many of what they make life in this community serve these tips.
Until next time, and a lot of success in the development of your thesis.
