What should a man devote himself to? Should it be to chasing riches, building a family, serving his nation or practicing his religion?
All of this things are good if a man chooses any of them. They allow a man to express love which to me is the purpose of our existence. But they also make people unloving. Sometimes people because of their devotion to them become a threat to the world. We have seen people hurt others because of their devotion to their families. Some people have tried to anihilate whole races because of their allegiance to their countries. Religion has been used to promote selfish goals and many have died because the intolerance it creates. So devotion to all of these things can be harmful.

What if love itself is what you are devoted to? This means everyone can receive love from you. All your actions would not harm your fellow man. Love itself is your religion. It is your wife and kids. The love you have will be for all.
I think if everyone devotes themselves to showing love and being loving the world would be a better place.
