Ugly Face of India.

India is a country where poverty is a serious case.
"Poverty is the worst form of violence" said by Mahatma Gandhi. October 17 is the eradicational day of poverty while India's economy contributes boom since the last so many decades.

Poverty is the scarcity of the lack of a certain(Variant) amount of material possessions or money.Poverty is a multifaceted concept which may include social,economic and political elements. Absolute poverty or extreme poverty refers to the complete lack of the means necessary to meet basic personal needs such as food,clothing and shelter.

Poverty,in other words,increase in Slum areas. Slums can be defined as "A residential area which dwellings are unfit for human habitation by reasons of dilapidation,overcrowding,lack of proper ventilation".

It's so ironical that Guwahati slums are the lakhs of people whose work makes the lives of its better off citizens easier and comfortable out they themselves are forced to live in worst of conditions.
The Major problems are plaguing slums are -

1. Garbage - We could see dumps of garbage everywhere. The dumped waste gives a very bad odour. The smell is poisonous,and the childrens playing near the garbage dumps for which they get infected with some fatal disease. In the rainy season,water logging which results in spreading all kinds of water borne diseases like Dengue,Malaria etc.
   
2. Toilets and Unhygienic conditions - From what we have seen, they don't have proper toilets. Plenty of toilets had no doors. Toilets were filth and waste materials as water supply and pipelines are not available.
   
3. Cramped Houses- It's difficult to even imagine the living conditions of the houses there unless and untill you actually experience the nightmare.
   10 to 12 people share a Cramped room and only they know as to how so many people fit in such a small room.
   
   To make and keep india beautiful first of all,we need to improve the living conditions in slums like Guwahati. Government should take proper initiative and give some effort with proper interest to remove the poverty problems. Providing more employment oppprtunities and others etc.

My next post will be of a Family who is suffering the difficulties of living life. When i listened to her answers to my Questions, i was deeply moved.
