Heritage Minute with Lucy Maud Montgomery - In Honor of International Women's Day
Growing up on the East Coast of Canada, a short drive from the ferry, I visited Prince Edward Island many times during the summers. The lush green fields, the red cliffs and roads, the two-story farmhouses, all took me back to the story of Anne of Green Gables, a Canadian classic novel that was well known all over the world. I still remember my childhood visit to Green Gables, the house which inspired the book.
Lucy Maud Montgomery brought the province and Anne to life in her stories. The tale of a little orphan girl captured the hearts of many. But the now well-known author struggled greatly in her own life. A new Heritage Minute, snippets of Canadian History, was released today in honor of Lucy.
Happy International Women's Day!
